So I work at one of those shitty mall kiosks. The woman at the kiosk next to me sells "asian stuff". Bamboo, those slipper things, those asian dress things (sorry for not knowing what these things are called:rolleyes: ), dragon figures, little Buddhas, etc.

Well she wants me to set up an online shop for her, take the orders, send them out... basically she wants me to do everything except supply the goods.

Do you think this is a good idea for the long term?

If so, what compensation should I get?

I've done shit like this and it always ends up being a big headache. It ends up being a job that is never done and isn't even close to being worth the money.

If she had the money to pay you well to operate an online shop, she wouldn't be selling from a kiosk.

happy endings online... do you live in a big city... it may work if she has a few workers

We're actually owned by Hollywood Video, so used DVD's.
They've just started doing this, to see how it performs.

Its basically a job to hold me over till I can make enough online. Which seems farther and farther each day.

why not do drop shipping - set up the site, manage the sales, buy at cost and sell retail - but have her box the items up and ship them... half of the headache is dealing w/ the packaging and shipping. its not too hard to manage a drop shipping site - though maybe not as much instant gratification like you can get in arb and aff...

Ya I haven't actually talked to her about who would package and ship things. I suppose if I just gave her the list of orders things would be a lot easier.

Is this her?

who's going to generate the traffic to the site? maybe she just expects people will find the site easily when the search google?

Of course I'd be in charge of driving traffic.
And of course, I haven't thought of any way to do so.

then pretend you don't know this lady personally - if you came up with the supplier on your own, would you go for it? if so, maybe you can find supplier / dropshipper on your own. pay some high school kid to do any boxing and shipping instead of splitting profit with her? would you still do it?

I really don't think I'd do it, just because I never thought I'd sell goods online unless they were digital goods.

This sounds like a baaaad idea.

If she wants you to sell shit online, give her some hot saki and find out where she buys her crap at wholesale prices and just chuck them on ebay and see if it sells. If it doesn't sell on ebay, then you'll have saved yourself a lot of headaches, cash and time.

plus, who really is looking to buy asian nic-nacs online. That seems like more of an impulse buy you would come across in the mall, but not really search for online
