The original text messaging. Everyone had their own 3 digit identifier in our circle of friends and an elaborate system of codes so we could relay messages without talking.
People take the piss out of iPhones and such today for the oversimplified and "obvious" controls but the picture of that piece of shit Motorola Razr reminds me how far we've come in a decade or so. Truly horrible navigation and possible the worst phone I've ever had the displeasure of using.
My first phone was a 3330 which IRC was a slightly newer 3310 when I was about 12. I can't say I miss the days of doing chores to earn £10 of credit and subsequently spunking it on "No Fear" background wallpapers and Blink 182 ringtones.

LOL, dug out my old Motorola bag phone and found my first laptop - Acer 1120NX. Still boots (CMOS battery dead). Still got my Startac phones too...apparently can still be activated on PagePlus.
My phone was so fucking cool, it kept me in blow-jobs for years. I went through 3 and got one off eBay a couple of years ago for £50. It was still pretty fucking cool.

Edit. I had the version before this with no screen hence no phone book.
Yeah, the phone book on that was great. You navigated using a wheel in the top corner hat made finding people faster than any phone I've ever had since.
I can still remember my first text message and being like, "what the fuck?" I then tried to reply in this foreign format to find it failed. I still remember trying to set it up with a vodafone operative who was new to the whole, "short message service" thing.
Oh, the days before willingly carrying around our own private tracking devices for the Rothschilds and their minions.
