Also post up your ID if you wanna play.

I never played Starcraft 1 and have played about 10 games so far of SC2 so I'm a complete newb, but here's what I've been doing :

All the games I've played have been 2v2 with a friend. He plays Terran and makes a ton of marines/siege tanks and just meatshields my base. I play Protoss and build a huge void ray army and then we just go rape whoever we're playing. It's working decently so far but I'm sure once we play better players we'll get owned.

i usually play terran. my strategy for 1v1 depends on the other players race. if they are zerg it is almost guaranteed win because simply mass marines will kill them every time. against another terran? i get siege tanks to prepare for the inevitable reaper or marine rush and always scout with scanner or my own reapers and take out any expansions and just generally be an asshole until they die (also air is important in tvt). against protoss i D up with a base block, making sure i have turret detectors for DTs and wait until he attacks then i retaliate.

otherwise i usually play 3v3 and it is the same as SC1 really if your teammates suck you are going to lose no getting around it, but the pairing system in sc2 gives less noob teammates but it still happens a lot. the key is to try to get one player out of the game and then go on to the next player. You would be surprised how little shit they have even though when theyre attacking they seem powerful. you can destroy their entire base while they are busy attacking one of your allies, usually they will want to go back and defend their base so they then leave your allies alone.

If you are just starting you should play Terran, they are the easiest race, then Protoss, then Zerg. Just based on how complex the race is and its skills.

For Terran, I turtle myself in the base and guard the entrance with buildings/bunkers. I then place 4 siege tanks around the entrance defend the borders with air turrets. From there I look at how my opponent is playing. Is his air weak? is is ground weak? is his base not defended well? From there I build accordingly. Some favs are shit tons of marines fully upgraded, fleets of battle cruisers, shit tons of banshees, and shit tons of Valkyries. I pick one of these or a mix depending on whats needed.

If they are zerg with no air, and no overseers then invis banshees will rape them. Any invis will rape zerg if they don't get overseers actually.

If they turtle in their base with tons of bunkers or turrets then the Yamato gun on the battle ships will rape them. One shot will take out most turrets/ground defense.

Valkyries can transform which makes it easy to clean out unguarded bases. Take out the air turret with a battlecruiser fly in Valkyries and transform to ground attack mode rape everything else. If they come back with melee go back to flying mode and fly away.

I never end up with any siege tanks, hellions, other stuff. Siege tanks are awesome if you can defend them in siege mode. But they get ripped apart unguarded.

This is just how I play...but if I was against you and your buddy I would build banshees since marines and siege tanks wont be able to see the invis units. VoidRay armies are tuff, I would guess that a shit ton of marines would be best to take them out.

Also note that all of this could be wrong I am also a SC noob but I do pretty well.

edit: since my ID is my email if you want to get a game going pm me. I don't want to post it and end up spamming the shit out of one of my mails.

Strategies really vary depending on the match ups and also whether you're playing league matches or custom melee (ie: fast money maps, bgh, etc..)

I like to play random, so I change it up almost every game but these strategies are usually pretty effective in ladder play in the gold division.

Terran: Reaper + Transition to 3M (Marine, Marauder, and Medivac)
Protoss: 3 Gate Robo + Fast Blink
Zerg: Fast Expansion + Speedlings (and Banelings if against Terran) + Mutas

For noobs, I would suggest playing terran first and getting a good handle on the 3M build, since currently it is almost unstoppable and also don't use ur scan from your orbital command unless you're getting raped by dt's or banshees. Send a reaper or viking to scout your opponents.

1 Scan = 50 energy
1 Mule = 50 energy

1 Mule can harvest 300 minerals before they expire
so essentially 1 scan = 300 minerals.

You should usually have 24-30 harvesters mining for you at any given base.

Also, try to harrass early on as much as possible and don't waste too many resources on static defense (bunkers, cannons, sunkens, etc..).MAKE UNITS!

Make sure you don't have idle minerals, as a rule of thumb you want to keep your mineral count around 200 at most, so keep spending your minerals and have your resources working for you.

My strategy is to not play computer games and do something productive instead. Unless you're building a website about Starcraft 2.

Not trying to be a dick - I realize we all need/should have a life outside building websites and making money. That being said, 2 quick points:

(1) I sit in a front of a computer all day for work. I'd prefer to spend my free time elsewhere.

(2) Computer games are addictive as hell and while they can be fun, it's easy to get sucked in and have them seriously infringe on your productivity. Especially when while you're DOING work there is a desktop icon sitting there begging you to click it. Trust me... I played way too many games of Sid Meier's Civilization (mostly 2 and 4). I'm a bit nervous when Civ5 comes out (this fall) because I'm extremely tempted, I know I'll get addicted, and those games can last days.

I just read this and seriously thought about not posting it since I am essentially just being a douchey thread-hijacking troll but I think it's a relevant warning to folks seeking interwebz success.

Carry on...

1v1 Platinum, 2v2 Diamond player here. I play Terran.

Terran strength is its ground army and unit diversity. 1v1 always depends on the opponents' race, but the 1-1-1 build is solid. 2v2 I play with my friend who plays Zerg. I'll usually cover the ground army (tanks + mm) and he'll go muta. But it always varies. Theres no single strategy you can always stick with :)

Seek and Destroy Battle Strategies,

while encounter all incoming treat..keep money production up to 110%, build masses of battle tank then destroy, destroy..!!

but most effective above all is, Never let you lenient to your enemies, Leniency is for the weak!!

Here is a nice pro match between Zorg and Protoss. You will never guess how the match ends.

Yeah pretty pointless point since you're already talking to people that actively play Starcraft.

1v1 Protoss Diamond, I work on multipile strats but the ones I've been focusing on are as followed.

PvP I usually do a 4gate. Chrono boosted Warp tech and a proxy pylon does wonders in that matchup, just gotta scout early to be sure you aren't 2 gate zealot rushed, which a few cannons and a forcefield can easily handle.

PvT I'm still trying to find a solid strategy to master, usually just 3 gate into robo and apply pressure while I expand and tech Collosi. Bioballs usually rape me first though. (Great now Rob Hustles song is stuck in my head)

PvZ My favorite match up, I get a quick Stargate and harass with Pheonix while teching charge for my zealots, the Zerg will mass Hyrdras to fight off the harass. Speedlots hard counter Hyrdras so I am able to either win right there or contain him while I expand and get High Templars.

Not trying to be a dick - I realize we all need/should have a life outside building websites and making money.

I always seem to finish my work a few hours before my friends get off their 9 to 5s so it's this or watch TV XD

I never got into starcraft but the game looks pretty cool. I just didn't understand all the starcraft words he was saying. Man, remember the days of Age of the Empires II? Now that was a fun game.

My strategy is to play better than them and counter whatever their strategy is.

Did you ever play ages of mythology and aom titans? I was one of the top DM players:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:
