Protecting the digitals

You can make a shitload of money by allowing your ebook to be pirated- or better yet, throwing it on all the torrent/warez sites yourself. Just write it with that in mind, fill it up with affiliate links and write it in a way that makes people want to click them. Wider audience = more monies.

Been hustling ebooks for 4 years, moved into software, you will not beat the faggots that steal/share your shit.

Almost 40 products later, lodda sharing from BHW to torrents to random shit to (ready?__) affiliates faking torrents to stuff a pdf file OR converted .exe file which is a one page "get product X at a discount - afflink".

Your product will get shared no matter what. Your ebooks/pdf's/passworded/unique per computer protection/webDBcall protection/licensed/won't matter.

Like others are saying it's a good thing, push harder, launch more. Ideas for you though::

Flood the torrents yourself with fakes and aff stuffed versions.

Flood the forums yourself with the MINI versions.

Get buzz and generate awareness by giving out a shitload of free copies (wow - people do that? Loss leaders or som??).

Oh - a good one: Make the book WORTH buying. Don't focus your biz on 'not getting shared' or 'retention/stop them from refunding'. Focus your shit on actual value, give them bonuses, give them TONS of free great shit to overdeliver, make them feel bad for refunding/sharing. Biggest fail I've seen happen to a big vendor is a flood of refunds because protection is too tight and customers just refund vs. emailing support to open a fucking .pdf...

Launch MORE shit.

Get DLGuard(.com), create a members area - get aweber, tie it into it (now every sale turns into an email buyer list addition and your members area can haz your newest offers/upsells/etc.).

WAIT! That's NOT ALL!!!

If you expect to get rich off of one ebook, sensitive intel, controversial intel, how to run your wife on water, stupid shit like that MIGHT make it for you but 99% of the time = pocket change. That's NOT to discredit shit though (I run a 7 fig operation now - mostly CB - mostly software no more ebooks - but you gotta start somewhere). If you do find you have a knack for packaging your ideas into viable 'buynow' buttons at low ticket items = filter those buyers into higher ticket items, and repeat.

In time you might find you haz a line-up of converting products that YOU own, and have affiliates for even, because the shit converts and sticks/has retention, because you provided value. Where in this case - your shit is shared AND you're making killer moniez, imagine THAT!

IN CLOSING:

Stop selling ebooks :) Launch software/or a hybrid of ebooks/audio/video/membership site/etc.
