Pulled a muscle in my backFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUU-

I read in another thread a title like the one you used for this thread is a bannable offense.

I was 5 minutes into a preseason club lacrosse scrimmage today, just getting into ready position (I play keeper) as the opposition settled their offense and I felt a fucking painful pop in my back right about heart level. I wasn't lifting, twisting, or straining my back in any special way.

I've played goalkeeper in lacrosse for 20 years. 90 mph shots with a solid rubber ball on bare shins, broken thumbnails, and more bruises than Rihanna; pain & I are well acquainted and I rarely bitch about it. But for those who have never pulled a muscle in their back, this is fucking excruciating. It feels like someone jabbing a knife into your spine.

This has happened to me 4 or 5 other times and its always horrible the day it happens, even worse the next day, and then gets progressively better over about 5 days at which point the pain subsides.

I took the maximum dosage of ibuprofen and am drinking beer for the pain. If its like previous times, tomorrow is going to be hell on earth and I'll probably hit up my Vicodin reserve.

So I was wondering if anyone here can relate to this, knows anything about preventing/treating it, or has any other advice.

Dick rolls, inb4's, general faggotry, and aspersions welcomed.

tl;dr version - Read the thread title again you sluggardly smegma smeller.

I feel you been there and dont want to go back.

In general never try to mix different pain medication esp not opiates and alcohol.

When shit like this happens to me so do I just goto the dr and ask for the strongest shit they can give me, preferably morphine.

I dont drink and I dont do drugs so I dont mind to get fucked up once a year every second year, its way better being completely dazed off for 2-3 days sleeping/watching TV instead of being in semi pain and not being able to work anyways.

When it comes to limits of paracetamol and ibuprofen so are you quite safe even if you are above recommended dosage if you're only on them for 1-2 days.

So my word to you is party on and come back to reality after a few days.

Edit: one other thing I forgot to mention - with my lower back injury, about a week after the initial tear I started having back spasms that basically feel like you're getting tasered. One happened in the shower and threw me into the wall so hard it nearly knocked me out. Watch out for those bad boys

THIS. Back Spasms are terrible.

er no, first hand knowledge here that it will indeed fuck you up, and it doesn't take a whole lot

Funny I've done it quite a few times, and nothing has ever happened. Just sayin. And I drank a lot more than 2 beers.

If you're looking for something to help you stretch your back after you've pulled a muscle, check out: USA Turtle. The Best Solution for Chronic Back Pain Relief

I helped market this product a few years ago, and it really works. It looks ridiculous, but its worth trying.

Looks like they are running a free trial on it now. Its pricey, but if it saves you a few days of pain, then I'd say its worth it.

Good luck.

Find a physical therapist with an ultrasound machine and maybe one of those transdermal lasers that stimulates the mitochondria. Helped a lot when I had a muscle spasm in my back, fuckin torqued my whole neck sideways.

Word. When my spasms hit I dropped to the ground of the parking lot like someone had just cut my puppet strings, blood curdling screaming facedown into the pavement. (Note: don't freakin get in a car ride more than 10 minutes if you're having lower back issues, YOU WILL bring on the spasms. Also do not sneeze, cough or laugh) I'd rather go through labor once more than ever do that again.

acupuncture. trust me.. it works and it's fucking cheap!!

just a quick 2 second backstory for people who don't think it works:

my aunts dog lost all control and feeling of one of its back legs, was dragging the leg everywhere like a gimped out bitch. the doctor said amputation was the only option. I did some research for my aunt, recommended acupuncture, after 1 session the dog regained about 75% control of her leg.

acupuncture FTW brozzeems

For all those squawking about taking a few Ibuprofens with beer consider these numbers form a report put out in 2003...

Every day 30 million Americans take some form of anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen (NSAIDs).

That's 10,950,000,000 people a year taking these drugs.

Every year there are 103,000 hospitalizations and 16,500 deaths associated with these drugs.

That's one hospitalization every 106,310 person taking these kind of pills and one death every 663,636 person. I think, maths isn't my forte.

Suck it up fool! I broke my arm clean through my radial and ulna...twice, shattered my ankle breaking both my tibia and fibula, herniated the T5 nerve in my back, micro tear in my lower lumbar, just founnd out I have a scar on my eyeball some how, had a sever concussion after I had a 50 lb flower pot (yes it was potted) smashed on my head, staples and stitches galore, cut tendons and the list goes on! Never had a pulled back muscle though sounds painful.
