i drive a 97 honda civic TURBO! about 6 months ago, i was running late and had to commute back to school, i was going 75 in a construction zone, and got pulled over by SuperCopWoman who gave me 4 points on my license.

My insurance Co. does not know, and i didn't need to report it.

Now i want to upgrade my DD to something new .. e46 m3 i'm thinking.

But before i settle on a new car, i want to get a quote from either my insurance agent or another insurance agent.

If i call up my ins agent and ask him for a quote, is he gunna end up seeing that i have 4 points on my license? this is what i'm afraid of, i don't wanna f*ck myself over

From my experience, this has been the case. Are you planning on keeping both cars? Could always get it quoted somewhere else if you're worried about them taking a second look at your current policy.

m3 won't be cheap at all in the first place... though neither would be the civic if you declared the turbo :P

i'd probably keep both cars, i'll keep the civic till it dies.

i know the m3 is gunna be more expensive, thats why i want to get a quote to see just how much it will be. if its gunna be high, i'm thinking old 330, 335, or 135 possibly

i should probably just call some other insurance company, but i wasn't sure if they found the points on my license if they are required to notify my insurance company or something

Is your Insurance policy a year long? I ask because you mention this happened about 6 months ago and policies are typically 6 months or 1 year.

Either way, once that renewal comes into play your rate will go up, unless you got supervision at court or something like that.

And if you ask them to quote you now, yes they will see it. They have an insurance 'credit report' if you will, and that will come up one way or the other.

don't know the answer to your insr question, but a buddy of mine is in the process of buying an M3. Going to Germany to do so. Apparently saves $5-$8K. And you get to drive on the Autobahn / in the Alps.

75mph in a construction zone...

Most states have a double the charge, twice the points, twice the penalty for speeding in a construction zone.
If you have the 4 points, this means you have pleaded guilty and paid the fine, did you have an option to take a defensive driving course to knock down the points?
With 4 points most insurance companies will place you on the assigned risk policy's. I would shop around, ask the agents if you take a defensive driving course will you receive a discount?
I can tell you that I had a Range Rover, and with no-points, I was paying close to 300 a month due to the replacement cost of the SUV, and my coverage selection of 150/300.
Again your first and only option would be to shop around, and look for policy discounts. Good Luck!

If you were doing 75 in a construction zone you got what you deserved. Call that little gecko lizard, tell him you love the piggy commercial and see what deal you can get. You might get a small discount for multiple cars. What state are you in?

if Geico services your state you can call them and fib a little to get a lower rate.

Geico actually rates you on your driving history but also what you do for a living, tell them youre a bank president or something (something with low stress and high value) and you drive less than 2k miles a year, commute to work and only use the car for rides to the supermarket down the road.

I pay less than 2K a year for CLK550, and a range rover full coverage $500 deductible just by telling them different stuff they cant prove is right or wrong.

Just when you call remember they track you by your phone number so if you fuck up and want to try again use a different number. The less driving should help to outweigh the speeding ticket.

I had my license suspended for speeding with my M3 and Geico never raised my rates

fill out one of those CPA offers and have 8 insurance agents call you up so you can compare prices. or get an independent insurance guy who will shop for you and find what's best.

Are you serious? I had around the same coverage w/Geico on my G-Wagen and paid less than $1k/year. I believe my Range Rover Sport was somewhat cheaper than that. Maybe it's heavily location-dependent; the only time I've ever paid >$1,000/year for car insurance was when my residency was in Manhattan.

The problem with this is that let's say you have a claim and someone in underwriting figures out you misled them on your application. They can and will:

1) deny your claim

or...

2) retroactively raise your rates

or...

3) retroactively raise your rates and deduct the amount owed from your claim payments.

or...

4) cancel you

It's not common, but it does happen.

LOL @ buying m3 and worrying about insurance prices... if you have to worry about those things... you are out of your budget

also my bro and father do road construction so fuck you for speeding through construction zones... theyve had losers crash into their machines.. guess what happens.. you die.. machine doesnt feel a thing

buy within your budget... i have a friend that works at a mechanic/tireshop and the shop laughs at people buying cars like this but not being able to afford new tires and servicing it...

so what is it with you ... living on a boat and an m3... how many logos you cranking out

You should have paid a lawyer or talked to the prosecutor to double up the fine and had it changed to a non-moving violation. All the insurance companies know about your past tickets and will hold it against you even if don't tell them when your applying. You might get a cheaper rate paying for a full year vs monthly. Go search for car insurance cheatsheet and see if you can get a better rate.

Let me clarify this, talked to my bro who's an expert w/car insurance..

You should have paid a lawyer or talked to the prosecutor to double up the fine and had it changed to a non-moving violation if possible. The insurance companies can go back and check for past tickets, but that's kinda of random unless you have an accident or policy lapse. Don't tell your agent you got a ticket regardless, just get a quote for the M3 and move on. If they do find out the insurance companies will hold it against you for 3 years.
