It's technically father's day in the US.

Several hours ago I found out that a good friend of mine - and also a co-worker - was killed in a motorcycle accident today. He has (had?) a wife and two young kids.

The STS section is full of whining often (including mine). But at the end of the day very few people have real problems.

Remember that, and quit yer bitchin'

Sorry for your loss man - and thanks for this post. You're definitely right - most of us on here have little problems compared to a lot of the world.

So sorry for your loss.

Do you know whether he was wearing a helmet or not?

Thats sucks, Sorry. I have lost some close ones in the last few years including my Bro. The finality of it is choking, but the memories are soothing. Be there for the wife and kids.

Sucks...a few years ago my sisters best friend's dad died in a motorcycle accident on fathers day...

Sad thing is the chick broke down and basically went crazy...she only really talks to her sister, and won't talk to anyone else now...she was pretty cool too, it sucks...

I was in a motorcycle accident a few years back...took a turn too fast and flew 120 feet in the air. I know how easy it could have been to have landed the wrong way and snapped my neck or hit a tree...I was lucky and was able to walk away from it with minor bruises.

Sorry to hear about your loss. His wife must be in a lot of pain.

We do have it lucky...and very rarely do we acknowledge that.

Do you know whether he was wearing a helmet or not?

I do not know 100% for sure but I assume he was.

This guy always wore his protective gear, etc, on his road bike on the freeway. He rarely drank and he was extremely healthy - he and his wife literally ate zero food with high fructose corn syrup or any other unnatural crap like that.

However, he was on an off-road trail ride this weekend. I haven't gotten the details of what happened yet. I talked to his wife to day but it wasn't the time or place to say "Tell me what happened!".

The news hasn't picked the story up yet so I don't know anything else.
