R.I.P. The Internet will die today

Wow, anarchy debates springing up on the 1st page of a thread that has nothing to do with anarchy?

Record time.

Usually it takes at least 3-4 pages before someone gets the ball rolling :)

That's because nobody knows what they should be arguing about. And the few talking points we where given are 'played' out

I am so fucking ready to make bank on this!

WHOOOOOOO!

Okay, how about the fact that 242 million people have died in the last 100 years as a direct result of government? That's observable experimentation.

I'm not arguing against the fact that government commits evils. I'm arguing that Anarchy, in any real population of people, is an impossibility anyway so quit dreaming about it. Anarchy can't exist in a household much less a greater population. A group imposing their rules/laws/threats/desires upon you forcefully destroys anarchy whether the group is a 'government' or a gang or religious organization or corporation or even a mother. Why should I work towards no government when I know smaller organizations will just pop up to fill the power void. But this simple observable historical fact is just something you guys won't admit to.. even when there's not a single observable case of sustained anarchy on earth. And if Anarchy isn't destroyed from within by small groups it will be destroyed from without by larger aggressive states/groups/religiouswars/whatever.

“Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.”

― Winston S. Churchill

Check how things work in Switzerland. If 100K people will sign a petition, government is FORCED to do a referendum on given topic and obey its results.
It is governments benefit if majority of society is well educated.

This is democracy.

It's more precise than the contemporary definitions of "rational".

Hmm. We can surely agree to disagree on that one.

In any case it certainly makes arguing for an overwhelming majority of human action as rational an easier endeavor.

That would probably come in handy if I was interested in, say, writing a book that argued for unregulated free markets as the "rational" conclusion of human action?

Hmm.

You've got a PM.

BTW "Torrents" likely won't be considered "lawful content" so that will likely be blocked, and or throttled. It doesn't bother you that they cracked your SSL so they could figure out it was netflix content to throttle? Again a separate issue.

Are they actually decrypting traffic to determine if it is Netflix? I was under the impression if you were using a VPN, you were't being throttled since they couldn't determine the type of traffic. I have also read reports that forcing header encryption on Bittorrent will prevent them from throttling that as well.

As far as I know the U.S. isp's are not doing deep packet inspection of vpn traffic for the purposes of throttling. It is very much possible (China is doing it) and they may be doing it for other purposes. But there is little doubt they are breaking SSL traffic on normal network traffic. I do not know if Netflix streams are encrypted (I would assume they would have to be) but carriers have absolutely been caught throttling Netflix. To me having governments and isp breaking security for their purposes is a bigger issue than the throttling issue. But nobody is lobbying against it (poring cash into Washington) so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Sonic.net CEO Dane Jasper is one of a growing number of ISP executives who've pointed out that the FCC's new net neutrality rules -- despite a lot of hand wringing from partisans and the mega-ISPs -- are really not a big deal. In fact, Jasper has stated, the only people they really impact are ISP executives interested in anti-competitive behavior. ISPs already have to submit data to the FCC stating they're engaged in reasonable traffic management, and if you're not doing anything anti-competitive, Title II with forbearance really won't change things for you.

There's the FSP (Free State Project) and the BLRP (Blue Ridge Liberty Project) here in the US. There are probably more.

It's praxeology. And yes, it does come in handy when arguing for free markets but it ultimately results in bad economics

IMO internet will never die because internet have made our life easy.We cant think about world with out internet. In coming future it will advance more but never dies.....many of the bigger companies are relying on internet for their business to grow....

Nightmare fuel. Jesus.

Also internet is dead now because Net Neutrality™ was repealed. Reddit told me so.

You'd have to be a total bonehead to be against Net Neutrality™. I mean, I haven't actually read the bill or attempted to understand its implications, but... NET NEUTRALITY, DUDE!
