Rand Fishkin tweeted about the WF "Rand Fishkin" account

Fuck ranking for Rand Fishkin terms. How about building an empire to rival SEOMoz? I'm pretty sure the WF community could build better tools (most already have), write more insightful posts, and generally kick the shit out of SEOMoz in every way. I realize it's probably naive to post this, but it's true.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxPGzj2L3n0

If you'd feel more at home with a bunch of MLM failures and zero-revenue mommybloggers discussing if h1 and title tags should match with the management chiming in from time to time to relate the amazing secrets they read in in google webmasters help then yes, please build such with your fellow travellers.

Do you mean WF is full of "MLM failures and zero-revenue mommybloggers" or that's what SEOMoz is? Building a rival site doesn't mean you would have to emulate their strategy. I'm talking about filling a void in the space by creating a blog/site that talks about SEO from a different perspective and provides SEO tools that are actually useful. Not saying we should mimic SEOMoz. Although that could be profitable.

A rival site implies it would cater to the mommyblogger/mlm failure crowd that seomoz caters to. A different perspective and SEO tools that are actually useful is pretty much covered by wickedfire.

lol if the term is "rand fishkin" I'll join the contest and I'm not even an seo person.

I'm in! I'm even down for making some tools to rock that dumb ass...

Steppin up to WF... seriously Rand what the fuck where you thinking? Your about to get ass raped and turned into a GAY webmaster, we know your married just to keep your folks in check.

The only difference between that guy and the rest of us is he fakes it better. And I'm pretty sure his beard is shopped cuz I can totally tell when things are shopped.

Only 18 million? I really thought the world's #1 SEO company was making more than that, when I think that Kevin O'Leary sold a "small" software company that no one ever heard about for 4.3 billion dollars.

$18 mil for a subscription-based service ain't too shabby.

Sorry, guess I didn't realize rival sites had to have identical content strategies.

Rands a nice guy, quit potatin'.

Haven't got a bad word to say about him. Come on, step back and take a look at the wickedfire community. This place is fucked! :D

Those guys are so watered down (from what Ive read) one step away from "just build good content and people will link to you"

There's bound to be a few fellow spammers there surely lol. I do have a few whitehat projects on the go so these conferences can be good for that kinda stuff. Promised myself I would get to more conferences/parties in London this year as well.
