Rand never got a pass because of his last name. He has 4 years left in his Senate term to undo what he did today. When he goes up for reelection, his support from these people will be based on the strength of his record in the Senate.

Ron won't endorse Mitt Romney before the convention. It would be an insult to all those who worked hard for 5 years to get this far. Assuming Romney becomes the nominee, any endorsement would be lukewarm at best.

The movement is bigger than Ron Paul. Even if he told people to vote for Mitt, most of them will not. And they'd probably destroy his facebook page, too.

Not surprising at all, Ron Paul is good at sticking to his beliefs no matter what which makes him an honorable man but probably one of the worse politicians in history. Rand is much better at the game of politics and understands that no matter how popular him and his dad are on the internet a modern candidate cannot win without either having $1 billion cash on hand or a major political machine such as the republican or democratic party. Some day the internet will be the ultimate equalizer for political candidates but that won't be for a loooooong time, as long as you have old people who get their news from TV, radio, and newspapers you're going to need a big political machine backing you in order to have a credible shot at the presidency. McCain knew this in 2000, Romney knew it in 2008, and now it's Paul's turn to kneel before the republican party and hope he does better in 2016 or 2020.
