According to Google a certain keyword gets approx 205,000 global and 35,000 local (US) searches a month. I'm ranked #2 for this keyword yet I only average about 2,000 hits a month from it.

Anyone know why this is? Is the #1 spot really getting 99% of the keyword traffic?

i feel like a schmuk. i actually used [] and "" in the search field, only now realised the checkboxes.

Exact match bring up 8k searches. Seems about right now lol

Still, broad match seems way too high, this is a pretty niche term so I don't know how the long tail has got that many searches.

you're supposed to put these little guys pointing out ] [

common noob mistake, no need to be embarassed.

just put your keyword like this:

]dog spanking[

and you'll be all set

As other posters have pointed out you need to check the box that says "Exact" and un-check the "Broad" box.

Also this is how i make the calculations:
Always use exact match, they are close to the truth.
There's a theory that the numbers you see are inflated by 30%.

If you're getting 2k you are doing pretty well.

I think the reason is about the Description. Maybe it not delicious enough of people click on.
