Thanks to ReviewMe, almost all of my favorite blogs seem to be posting nothing but freaking reviews of other blogs. I'm not going to name names because I'm sure all of you have seen the same thing.

I can't blame them too much because it's probably an easy way to make hundreds (maybe thousands) more a month. But they are currently overwhoring (yes I made that word up) themselves in my opinion.

Christ I hope it dies down soon.

Yeah I've previously used Review Me for my blogs and you can make some alright money at it the minimum I've ever gotten per review is $30 bucks but that can get up to over $200 per review and if its a popular site you can have several reviews per month pulling you in a few grand.

So when people began to realize this everyone and their dog began to do it so now a ton of previously awesome blogs are starting to fill their good content with shitty reviews of other blogs, products, and sites in general, I no longer deal with them because I'm moving away from traditional blogging now and getting ready (Well still working like a dog) to get some big sites of mine online.

Its the ultimate way of selling out, and it pays accordingly, which is why so many people do it.

But shoe turns down 3 out of 4 requests. John Chow is just bending over like crazy. His blog has lost so much in quality - I removed it from my RSS reader.

Yeah, John Chow's blog has gone to SHIT! I completely understand his greed but it's a going to be a short-term income generator for him because all his readers are going to get sick of it and stop reading.

I was surprised and disappointed to see Shoemoney finally gave in today.

Shoemoney's blog has really gone downhill. His PPC experiment posts are what got me into affiliate marketing - and my bank account thanks him for that - but lately his posts seem to be an endless stream of ad pitches for his own projects, paid reviews, and keywords he wants to rank for.

Indeed, that is quite gay. Bye bye John Chow, I've also removed you from my RSS reader.

I enjoyed shoe's review and it couldn't have come at a better time 'cause I've been shopping for a laptop and that site he reviewed has come in handy. Although I still don't know what I want to get for a laptop I plan on finding it through that site.

I can't blame Shoe for making a pretty easy $1250, although, for a blog making $10k a month through other ads, I'm not so sure the ReviewMe posts are worth it...

As for John, yeah I hate the ReviewMe posts too, as I hate all the billions of ads there, but his blog after all is largely focused around blogging and monetizing from blogs. And how else can he better show how it's done than by doing it himself? He's already at over $8,000 per month from his blog so he's doing something right. His 11,000 AGLOCO signups is pretty scary too.

So, I'm fine with big blogs doing this, but I hate it when small/growing blogs do it.. first off, they're only going to make $10-$30 for it, and it's not worth it to the readers.. they should spend the time writing good content and then worry about monetizing later IMHO.

Tyler,
Nobody blames anyone trying to make money with a blog. But there is a line once crossed every additional review destroys the reputation and the quality. John Chow's blog has gone to hell. All that is left is link SPAMMING ("Here is batch 55 of blogs that are linking to me" - what is the value for the blog reader here?) and ReviewMe crap. Then there are postings about food, but even that has gotten out of hand. Oh, almost forgot the SPYWARE promotion Agloco. Again, no value for the blog reader - just bragging about how many blind idiots have signed up for the same crap. One out of 15 postings carries any usable value (or is it 1 out of 20?).

Sorry, but he has crossed the line between usable information and crap a while ago.

Chris

I am not blaming the advertiser. If you get value from certain advertisements, good for you.

But if you get 5 review requests/offers in 2 days you should be smart enough and decline a few of those. Nobody wants to read paid adverts that often - no matter how "targeted" they are. It's just common sense or greed. He went for the greed. But that is just an example. And it is not John alone - there are too many blog owners making the same mistakes.

Tyler does all of this, so he isn't going to understand :D

I have bought reviewmes from alot of places for AfterVote. Let me say that buying a review on gray wolf was a mistake. You would think that being such a 'big shot' they would realise if you give a shitty review, future advertisers wont want to buy.

...Which allows me to make a flip side point that most "reviewers" are going to to unfairly slant the review toward the positive in an effort to get future advertisers. Or at least to make the client feel that they got their moneys worth.

What I don't understand is why the hell do people who supposedly make a million bucks a year are completely selling out by writing paid blog posts on their personal blogs. Just shows what big ass experts they really are :/

Two more ReviewMe's on John Chows blog today. He's officially dead to me now.
