Just curious to see what everyone else thinks but I just came across this website which was covered with affiliate products and it simply said join now for free, click on ads, wait 30 seconds earn points and re-deem those points at the end of each month for real cash.

What they are doing is simply getting people to click on the affiliate products that interest them (Tons and tons of them), then a timer counts down from 30 which is shown in the top screen, the bottom screen is an iFrame with the affiliate site, now after 30 seconds the user gets there points (5 - I believe).

At the end of each month they tally up how much they earned from affiliate sales and distribute the cash among people who have reached a point goal, its paid through PayPal and its not much considering its only in the range of 1.25 for 1000 points.

They've got over 10,000 members as well so I found all this out by having a close look at there site and they don't say much of what I said here they leave a ton of shit out but anyone with half a brain can tell exactly what they are doing.

Think about some numbers though 10,000 members lets say 20% are active each month, so thats 2,000 active members and out of those 2,000 lets say 10% buy something each month, so thats 200 sales, now lets say they get an average of $20 per sale (Looks about right based upon there ads).

So there making $4,000 each month and only paying out maybe $200 of that at most to there users. Of course those numbers are just a guess and they could be making a lot more or a lot less but still they've got to be turning a profit.

I've though about a similar idea a long time ago but thought it was shady enough to cause advertisers to complain so I never followed through on it. What do you all think about this?

EDIT: More News I just found out this site is only 3 months old.

It's an interesting idea.

A few thoughts popped in my head as I was reading your post...

1. Do you know for certain that there are 10,000 members to this site or is there the slightest chance they simply posted that number to make others feel comfortable (i.e. using social proof)?

2. You had the same question I had... if I was an advertiser and I stressed on my offer profile page that you cannot incentivize the traffic, I would consider not paying for the leads generated by this process.

3. If the hypothetical numbers in your post are correct, that's an impressive ROI. Assuming that most of the 20% of members who are active grow weary of making $1.25 for 1,000 points, the site owners would need to continually feed the funnel with new users. That could get expensive, significantly impacting ROI.

Very interesting idea. I wish we knew the numbers behind it.

Sounds kinda like those auto surf sites like 12 Daily Pro.

Yes thats basically exactly how the point system works.

It's an interesting idea.

That was my problem when I thought of a similar idea a long time ago I was afraid of running into serious problems with the advertisers not paying because of incentified traffic.

As for the membership base yes they post the numbers on the site and I believe they are accurate based upon the applications they have out and based upon the sites forums, as for the prices they pay then yeah I'm sure they must have some other profit aspect to keep members around but they say they also offer shares to there users instead of cash.

It seems to me like an MLM type of deal set up like Agloco's service, with agloco the users make I would guess in the same range and they have over 100,000 members so there are people out there which do fall into that crap.

See my idea I had back in the day wasen't based upon points or any scams like that I had the idea of offering a discount on products for people.

Actually I'm going to contact my AMs from a few networks and toss some ideas back and forth and see what they have to say about something similar then I'll get back to this.

Eh, seems like you'll make more money from running a traditional cash back site. I've been on the merchant end of things before, and PTR style sites tend to drive a shit load of clicks, with very little revenue (even lead based programs).

Just use offers you CAN incentivize.

I would imagine that actually getting leads would be the hard part. You're basically training people to try and go through as many offers as possible and more than likley they're barely even reading them if at all..

The viral factor is huge with this though, especially incentivizing referrals. If you optimized correctly I'd imagine you could get decent ROI, especially if you were able to track who ACTUALLY signed up as leads and pay them only.

Well obviously an idea like the one they are doing on the site would generate a ton of clicks with low ROI but I've got ideas to twist the idea to the point that your offering shoppers real value for buying the products through you, simply think discounts.

Something like quidco.com?

Yeah my latest post about discounts and not the site I was first talking about was kind of related to Quidco. Basically have a place where the user buys the product they were already going to buy but get them to buy it through you for a discount.
