Rick james super freak/Soul sonic force planet rock remix

if you start playing at 1:10, you'll hear at 1:14 is just completely off sounding.. and the keyboard from that point on sounds like someone is mashing the keys incoherently haha. not too sure if these two go together too well. ;)

do u even mix bro?

I wasnt trying to bash but ive DJ'd for over 20 years, i can tell when a beat clashes and these clash all the way through

Not sure if srs. I would sample a few loops that are tight from the track and reconstruct the track in time. Im not up on music tech as ive not done much production for many years but im sure there is software that does all that these days

I dont use software i use turntables

They may be the same tempo but the swing is different meaning they sound out of time - Either try identifying every single beat in both songs and letting your software match them. Or just find 2 other songs to mix together.

Also - I'm not a musician but they sound out of key.

And - the drops, rising energy parts and general flow of the 2 songs aren't matched.

Apart from that....

Ok just seen you use turntables - get 2 copies of Planet Rock and juggle them for an hour and listen back to it. Perfect the art of mega mixing a single tune first. Then do it at night with the lights off and the pitch it up to like +4 and you'll get more used to mixing by feel rather than any fancy pants precision shit.

I can hear what you were trying to go for. The only way that works is if you put the Superfreak in the back seat so ppl can hear the other stuff going on.

See what you can do with these:

yeah but you have to realize super freak has tempo shifts through out the whole song being it is done with real live drums and not a sampled drum machines so you have to constantly shift planet rock throughout the entire mix to keep in time. thats the nature of mixing recordings with real drummers on turntables. but the massess have spoken they think its sounds bad and if thats what they think then there is no denying it.
but i think that the whole "its clashing the whole way through" is bullshit its not out of tempo the entire time its imperfect because humans are imperfect

the only solution i suppose would be to cut all of the high end out and try to use the bass line and drum but not sure if that would sound good. suppose i will have to experiment.
