Rogue DNS?

As some of you remember, I have been having issues with my email account with messages destined to me getting lost without a trace.

I found a critical clue today to what might be happenning.

Although I changed my Name servers and MX record 4 times. It seems that some email is still getting relayed to my old email account.

How is that possible?

The last time I even changed the MX record on the registrar level. It seems to be me that some DNS servers just did not get the message and are still relaying emails to that old box.

Anyways how can this be confirmed and fixed?

I am aware of that. But in this case the DNS has been changed over 5 weeks ago. ( from the original mailbox where some mail still ends up )

Since then I changed it again 3 times. thinking the provider was having issues.

But All along the missing emails where routed to the original server.

I suppose the only remaining step is to find out which DNS server is the authoritative server. Start with your registrar, then your host. Make sure the nameservers (search whois.sc if you need to know these) associated with your domain's NS records point to the authoritative DNS server. If your NS records point to a DNS server that's not your host (or your own), then you look at the server it's pointing to and look for an extra (or misconfigured) MX record.
 
I have setup the MX record straight on the registrar level.

I'll google this whole authoritative things as I know little about this. If you got links, they are welcome.
