wooooo, i think they should put that shit on channel 4 when they do it!

the news here is saying people in Dearborn are already reacting to the news. Dearborn is the hub for arabs in the US.

anyone else excited to know sadam is going to die? :rasta:

Good riddance.

They are going to hang him which is pretty lame "because we can" statement.

OK, just a bit in cynical mode here - judgement is in time for US elections - maybe just a coincidence I guess

Heh, good one. Still, all news we got here suggested any sentence for Saddam to be given early next year, which is why the cynical thought came up.

oh and the government puts floride in the water to make us zombies that do whatever they say:rasta:

Was there a doubt in anyone's mind that he wouldn't get sentenced to death?

I'm confused. How is Saddam already in hell on South Park? He hasn't been executed yet.

Reacting how?

Also if I remember correctly I believe before Jerome Bettis from the Steelers got the key to the city of Detroit, Saddam Hussein was the last recipient of that award. Wierd!

Back to the original post. I wish they would have done this about I don't know a long time ago, it's no coincidence that they captured him before a big election and it's no coincidence that they laid the verdict two days before the biggest election for Republicans in the House and Senate in many years.

I'm all for it just not the politically timing of it. Guess 30 days till ol WMD Hussein will be gone.

Chicago, the NYT says that the information the USA posted online about building a nuke, papers we took out of Iraq actually helped Iran in building there nuke. Funny, if the man was not a threat, and if there were no WMD's, although same papers say they were moved to Syria, then how did his siezed documents help Iran in building a nuke? Reports from the UN say he could have 1 in a year.
As for political timing, the capture of Sadam was not before an election, the verdict has nothing to do with the election, he is on trial still for another crime.

Chris,

I stand corrected on the first part. He was captured in December of 03 but if I remember corretly many people were questioning the purpose of Iraq and our stance at that time and though it was a month after the 04 elections it did help lead the momentum of his second term but to say that this has nothing to do with the elections on Tuesday is not accurate because it does influence voters and although you said it doesn't matter much because he is on trial for a separate case the below states what that really means.

"The death sentences automatically go to a nine-judge appeals panel, which has unlimited time to review the case. If the verdicts and sentences are upheld, the executions must be carried out within 30 days. A court official told The Associated Press that the appeals process was likely to take three to four weeks once the formal paperwork was submitted. If the verdicts are upheld, those sentenced to death would be hanged despite Saddam's second, ongoing trial for allegedly murdering thousands of Iraq's Kurdish minority." AP

I'm not trying to sway anyone either way for one party or another thats there own personal choice but I do care deeply about our boys over there thats who I care about in this whole ordeal. Both party's are to blame for these things.

Chris I respect your posts a lot on this site and I am a fairly newbie so I don't want this to burn any bridges. You add more to this forum then I ever have and hopefully overtime I can do the same. Hopefully you appreciate my opinion on the topic and we go from there.
