Huh? Joomla is free open source software. That's even better than saving $50.

I use the magazine component on my site. I don't rely on it as much as I did when I first started with Joomla, but I love it. It definitely gives a cleaner, more professional look. Their support is great too.

yeah.. seems joomla has a lot of paid add ons.. and its a good cms.. not as powerful as drupal or not as optimized out of the box.. but at least it got lotsa purty things heh

John, which one would you recommend? I used "website baker", it is pretty lightweight...but than again it doesn't give you too many options.

I'd like to recommend people here a pretty nice CMS/CMF named ModX. It's extremely flexible, and has a bit of a steep learning curve, but it's totally worth it in term of power/flexibility/configuration. Oh, and it's #1 in G for AJAX CMS, and #2 for SEO CMS.

PS: and it's free and open-source, as it will always be, so no worries about that ;) .

i fuckin hate joomla.. had to work with it once and had to modify it so heavily that i'd rather had coded my own cms

amen

I installed joomla on a client's website and everyone was happy as fuck. Then a few months later they wanted this and that modified. I had to modify it so much that it wasn't updateable anymore. I finally thrown that out the window and created a custom cms and worked about 50 hours for free cause I initially recommended them joomla so I had to make up for it.
