Segmenting Buyers vs Leads?

As a merchant I'm looking for an email solution that will allow me to segment leads that reach my thankyou page as buyers. The buyer segmentation should happen after they... step 1: enter their info for purchasing purposes and become a lead, and step 2: reach the thankyou page.

A buyer will always first be a lead because I ask customers their info before I give them the option to check out. To illustrate...

Step 1: a lead, collects the customer's name, address, and email info for use during checkout
Step 2: a buyer, the customer checks out and lands on the the thankyou page

I want to be able to seperate the leads that successfully complete step 1 and step 2 from the leads that only complete step 1.

Does anyone know about an email solution that can do this?

What kind of software are you using right now?
depending on that, you can try to use 2 pixels 1 that fire after the first aciton, and another one on the thank you page

Aweber can do this with a little custom code on the thank you page. For example, you can have the shopping cart pass the buyer's Email address to the thank you page and then have an Email sent to Aweber to stop/unsubscribe the lead and tag them as a buyer.

However, with this method you won't be able to re-market to them via Email since they'll be inactive.

If you're after a more robust solution, look into InfusionSoft.

Set up a second Aweber list for the buyers... Then take that form code and make all the fields hidden, and add a small line of javascript that submits the form on page load...

Have your thankyou page pre-populated with the name and email, etc..

I have done this with an Iframe on the thankyou page...

Oh, and use aweber's list automation to unsub that person from your prospect list.

^^ This way don't they have to reconfirm via another optin email?
This kills it for me.

Try custom fields.
