seriously overwhelmed

Best advice someone gave is don't start when you don't have at least $3-5k. I was failing here and there simply because I invested $200, failed and gave up when that same campaign could have made me thousands if I put in more than $1000 and then simply eliminated parts of it that didn't work.

3-5k? hmm, I assume you are talking about web design, seo and advertising. I have been trying to follow niche site tutorials and autoblogs. What kinds of projects are you referring to?

What kind of products? Have you thought about going the e-commerce route? E.g. source products, market direct b2c in the US.

yeah I am trying to set up a few ecommerce sites as we read these posts. i have even done the ebay way selling at cost to create a mailing list. already got limited for selling too fast.

i'm into game consoles and phone accessories. i have a very subpar site up at peglegtrading dot con

SEO

SEO is about the basics multiplied it’s as simple as that. First obviously you need to learn the basics (which are no secret)

1. Pick a keyword with literally ZERO (or close to it) competition
2. Rank your site No1 using the basics
3. Understand why your site is No1
4. Learn how to scale these basics to a much larger level, either through sheer repetition or higher quality.
5. Start a site in a more competitive niche
6. Make $$$

Rinse a repeat with either more sites or more keywords on the same site. Each time you will learn more and make more money.

This is how I learned SEO1

I might in the future be interested in partnering with people on the product / procurement side...not my strong suit. Right now I'm super busy, but it's something I'm definitely open to in the not too terribly distant future (few months). PM me if you want to talk more and get into detail about COGS, margins etc and what I can do on the e-com / marketing side of things.

Troll or not, I see one thing that's seriously fucked up. Your SEO.

oilrigsunglasses.com is pitiful when it comes to onsite SEO. Believe it or not, meta tags (at least the title tag and desc. tag) play a major part in google rankings. Don't Believe me? Optimize your title, wait a few days, and see if you're ranking doesn't jump up quite a few slots. I've done this many times for clients, so yea, that shit works.

If you're going to own sites, you at least have to know on-site optimization. You can buy links from provider from the forum, so that you don't have to do it yourself. But without onsite optimization, you're not going to rank as well as you would want.

I must be missing something, but I'm not sure why certain peeps gotta be a dick about someone asking for help. Instead of sending somebody to get dickrolled, why don't you take a second thought and remember where the fuck you started. Everyone has to start somewhere. Obviously, the OP is trying to give a fuck about learning, why not give them some simple advice.

EDIT: Matter of fact, PM me, I'll help you with it, and explain what works, what doesn't work. Then I'll give you some tips in the WF Buy sell section on what's good, and what type of links to stay away from.

glad i could be of some use.

this is one of my faves, but i think i got the keywords wrong on the autofeed.

oilrigsunglasses.com

It's not so much the keywords doing you in, but the 50+ other sites with the exact same content for any given post. You still get indexed, but most everything I looked at has you 2-3 pages down in the 'supplemental results.' You gotta mix it up a little or you won't rank for shit.

This not a bad list till i got to:

Lastly and surprisingly, Your HTML comments should have your SEO terms in them (!!) — As a question to the relevancy this has to your ranking, I am unsure, but most of the large sites have html comments connected to their search terms. If you end up doing an analysis of your on-page content, you can find out if the high ranked sites for your keyword use HTML comments tagged to the keyword(s) being targeted.

Im like wtf? Your keywords in comment tags in the source? Tell me they making the jokings right!

wow, i have no idea what cogs are. i've been in wholesale for 5 years and never heard this acronym. seems like u have a lot to teach me.

i basically have worker bees who contact factories for me and get quotes for stock and for possible oem deals.

our main strategy is to stay as cheap as possible and try not to fuck over customers with shit. it's not easy because chinese suppliers are woefully incapable of keeping their word. we try our best to pick up their slack though.

thanks a bunch for this. I will take a look at the tut you linked and pm with my questions. appreciated!

I meant mix up your sources. The feeds you are pulling from are also being pulled from by a shitload of other sites. A little bit of this is tolerable, but it helps to be creative with the things you do with the data (like generating graphs, etc). Could also throw some video/images up there, but be careful what you use or you could end up getting extorted by Getty.

Sites like these are typically called 'mashups' or 'aggregators,' and they are also fairly saturated so don't try to copy them; take a look at some of them and try to put your own twist on it. Also, don't worry about running ads until you know how to get ranked.

sure, i haven't exactly monetized them with a full effort, but the process has seemed a bit futile the more i got in to it

This.

Here is your problem bro. Also, take 2 days and learn some formatting and basic web design skills.

Your site doesn't even have a keyword in your title tag!

How you didn't get flamed for being a lazy noob should be the discussion here. Maybe you have some sort of sympathetic persuasive powers you should exploit. Black hat non-profit "charities" maybe?
