I've been using my mobile as my primary means of telephone communication since 2001 but I realize that I want a land line now as well. I'm not stoked about the prospect of paying exhorbant long distance fees, however. I want a plan that allows me to call the US and Canada for a single monthly fee but I'm hesitant to try to rely on Vonage, especially since my internet burps sometimes during storms. Being 4 miles from the beach, we get a lot of storms here.

Anyone know of any killer plans out there? I'm looking at Knology since I use them for internet and cable but I don't think they have any such plan even under their business tier.

I ended up going with knology. I currently had basic (ghetto) cable and internet with them already. I never bothered with digital cable b/c I never watch TV. I paid $89 for the bundle.

I called them and for $99 a month, they threw in digital cable with one premium channel (I chose HBO) and free nationwide long distance with all the phone perks (call ID, conference calling, anonymous calling, VM, etc).

She also told me about their college sports channel thingy that will allow me to get all the college football games for, like, $2 extra. Booyah!

Calling to Canada will still cost .05 per minute though, but yoink*gasp* is the only Canuck I talk to and he can call me for free so it's a non-issue.
