8) Leveraging the highest tiers of the eBay affiliate program - The eBay program has many levels of payouts based on volume. The users of AuctionAds pool together volume to give everyone the highest payouts possible from the eBay program.

Good to hear it straight from the Shoe's mouth. I posted this in the eBay Arbitrage thread - I really don't think this point is getting the attention it deserves.

Well, I just set up an AuctionAds landing page - and 1000 keywords in AdWords.

We'll see how it goes.

There are 2 benefits to having a landing site rather than linking directly to eBay that I can see.

1. Your quality score may be higher with a lainding site.

2. AuctionAds places you in the highest tier of eBay affiliate earnings.

#2 is the big one IMO:

Level 1: You earn 40% of eBay's revenue.
Level 8: You earn 65% of eBay's revenue.
Level 1: A new active registered user earns you $12.
Level 8: A new active registered user earns you $22.

If you wanted to get to the 8th Tier on your own you'd have to drive $1,000,000+ in eBay revenue a month. Whether you make more or less than linking directly to eBay depends on how much your QS will bring down your cpc and how high you can get your CTR. Won't know until you experiment.

Yeah and the down side is you are helping Shoemoney get into the top-tier of the Ebay affiliate program rather than yourself.

Now, many people won't give a shit. But, if you promote anything directly yourself other than through the ads, well, it's a bit silly to not get that ebay love yourself.

It's short sighted to think you won't want those top tier rates for your own business later.

hahaha you know what Shoe can have all that little extra off the top as long as it gets me inside of a top tier, first off if I had a company that was pulling in 1 million a month I sure as fuck wouldn't be bothering with an eBay affiliate program unless I was directly tied into eBay from the start.

Its not about getting the top tier rates for yourself, its more realistic to go after something you can achieve, for instance right now or even 5 years down the line I personally don't think I could be getting 1 million a month in eBay sales to hit that top tier and if I was good enough to make it to that level, I would stop using the eBay affiliate program and making 40 to 60 percent return on it, I'd be making the full 100% return on that million all for myself.

If that doesn't make sense then by all means keep bitching and if you can somehow pull 1 Million a month out of your ass then what the fuck are you doing around here learning about affiliate marketing.

This is naive. It doesn't get you inside a top-tier, it gets shoemoney to the top-tier. Whether it's worthwhile really depends on how much you plan to grow your business and exactly how much shoemoney takes "off the top".

If you had a company that was pulling in 1 million a month from affiliate (one of which was ebay), you wouldn't bother ? That seems even more silly.

I guess shoemoney should just tell ebay to fuck off if he's pulling in 1 mil+ ?

And for all you folks out there ebay does have an affiliate team, they will talk to you if you have a proposal or want to discuss which tier you are in.

To get to the eBay top tier you'd be earning at minimum $650k a month.

Uh. I don't think I'll be there anytime soon.

You obviously mis-understood what I was trying to get across, first off it does get you in a top tier, yes shoemoney runs it and created it but its the effort of all the affiliates that make that 1 Million a month to be in the top tier, I'm saying it would be fucking hard to make 1 Million a month on your own just promoting eBay shit.

And yes if I had a company that was pulling in 1 Million a month I wouldn't be bothering with eBay why? Because if I could make 1 Million a month for myself doing something on my own why would I be part of eBay, I would have to make 1 Million a month for them in order to get 40% of that, do your fucking math thats a 40% loss if I was making 1 Million a month somewhere else, but this could be screwed around with to make an argument, yeah lots of holes but who cares right now.

Should Shoemoney tell eBay to fuck off, well if ShoeMoney is making more then 1 Million a month somewhere else then sure he doesn't have to deal with eBay but AuctionAds is not only about shoemoney so no he doesn't have to say fuck off.

Not everyone is making 1 Million a month, or maybe you don't know how much that is in your twisted mind, hmm that is 1 and 6 zeros, looks like so 1,000,000 I doubt you have the ability to promote 1 Million per month worth of eBay sales on your own, so stop bashing a program just because you cannot make it work for yourself.

Keep arguing semantics people. Keeps you out of the top tier. And me in it.

No it doesn't. It gets shoemoney into the top-tier. Unless you get a direct benefit from that to make it worthwhile, it makes no fucking difference to you and as for group effort my arse, it's not an "effort" to do anything.

Shoemoney is providing a service to make it potentially easier to monetize for folks that can't use what Ebay provide.

His business is in it to make a profit pure and simple. Getting to the top-tier is a way for his business to make that happen because that top-tier rate doesn't filter directly down to each user.

And if people that use his Ads are lucky, they'll get a bonus % increase to make it worthwhile.

As for your business comment about losing 40% to ebay that's a bit silly. That's just a cost of doing business, if you build a business around Ebay or any other outside service, it would seem a bit crazy to say, fuck it, I'm turning over $1m a month, I'll just sever my connection to ebay and make my own Auction site instead and compete directly with Ebay.

Yeah, good luck with that.

hahaha first off IF I had a business created around eBay then of course you wouldn't go off to compete against them dumb shit, what I was saying is that if I had the ability to market 1 million per month outside of eBay I would easily take that route to get a higher payout through other means because why would I promote 1 Million worth of sales for eBay when I had the ability to do it for myself, get my point yet.

As for ShoeMoney making money, yeah of course he is bud, I'd call him a fucking idiot if he wasen't going to make any money with it, its business and everyone makes money, Shoe is at the top, then the higher up users, then it filters down through the rows like anything else, so in a way your right not everyone is at the top tier with the program but its a FUCK load easier to get to the higher tier using this program rather then doing it on your own with eBay.

4,695 Impressions, 74 Clicks, 1.58% CTR, $1.56 revenue. I pulled it and put adsense back up. I'll be testing it again a little more focused on each page versus the overall site.

My apologies if this has been asked somewhere else, but I couldn't find it anywhere:

- What sort of revenue are we getting a share of here? I mean, let's say I have an AuctionAds ad up for some products that go for $100 on eBay. A visitor comes by, clicks my ad, and then buys the item.

What percentage of that sale price does eBay get as revenue? In other words, how much does the seller of the eBay item have to pay to eBay in order to list it?

I know AuctionAds pays 65% of eBay's revenue to the affiliate, but I am trying to figure out what their share of the sales price is. If it's something like 1%, then I'd get paid $0.65 for a $100 auction item - correct?

Perhaps shoemoney can shed some light on this.

Thanks!

Heres a question for shoemoney:

I've had lots of ideas for marketing ebay ads in different unique ways, I like the idea of auction ads, but the standard ad blocks don't give me enough flexibility.

I think it would be hugely beneficial to release some sort of API/XML for auction ads, that you toss out a GET request with your keywords, and some other information, getting back a bunch of auctions with prices, pictures, titles, etc.

I know that the ebay api does allow this, but it's not through auctionads, so we don't get the higher commissions, and you don't get your cut (eventually).

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Tob

Worst stats ever:
54564 impressions.
303 clicks.
$3.77

I guess I had the wrong keywords. I tweaked them up a little and in the first day I had three leads, so it's just about the keywords and your niche. I know this has a lot of potential.

I've been wanting something like this as well, maybe not a complete API but just a little something I can edit the Ad Blocks with to spruce it up.

We are working on tools like our own api that would of course automatically geotarget the traffic. It will probably be a few months before we beta it.

Had some pretty good days with Auctionads:

04/04 90 1118 0.20% $15.28
04/05 88 5310 0.11% $13.90

But then since Ebay announced their tracking system has been messed up I've been earning jack shit:

04/18 111229 3870 3.48% $0.26
04/19 82371 2150 2.61% $0.03

There's no post on the blog regarding whether these poor stats have anything to do with the ebay reporting being down & if it's likely to get fixed.

If it continues I'll end up pulling it too.

4140 | 38 | 0.92% | $0.00

Let's see for few days if it can kick it up. I understand delays and snowball effect, but it's pain in the ass to test these things when you pay for the traffic... Ya I know, I just suck..

Btw, can somebody explain why any porn related searches don't give any relevant ads. Don't tell me there's some goody good no-bad-porn filtering going on here. If that's the case, fuck this..
