Shopping For A New Mattress

That's not a Stearns & Foster. Anyone that owns one or has sold them can tell you that by looking at the stitching and the box spring. Maybe a really low-end Sealy?

Just got a Simmons Beautyrest Black last month. Love it!

For the past 10 years I've been waking up with back pain. After getting that mattress, no more. I used to wake up before my alarm almost every morning due to the pain, now I sleep until my alarm and wake pain free and rested.

Not saying that particular mattress is right for you, but am saying: go to a local mattress store, try out the mattresses. Lay on them for at least 5 minutes each. You'll find one that just "feels right". Get that one.

The local store here even matched an online deal I found, which saved me about $400 in cash and included some extras which was nice.

I worked at a mattress store a few years ago.

Stay away from sleep number. If you want more details why, let me know.

Waterbeds are still around. They just aren't popular anymore because they're unnecessary with the tech we can put into beds today. They're heavy, expensive, and require care. Next generation is gel.

@OP how long ago did you sleep on a tempur? The first generation sucked hugely. Way too hot. I actually sleep on a tempur cloud supreme and it's really not too bad (I'm a warm sleeper too). I find it extremely comfortable, but everyone's comfort is different (otherwise there would only be one type of mattress to buy, right?)

If you're totally against tempur, mx=headroom nailed it. Go with an individually pocketed coil mattress. They work well for side sleepers because they let you sink in where you need to (hips, shoulders). Simmons is known for their individually pocketed coil.

KEEP IN MIND: Simmons also uses memory foam for the top layer of foam on several of their mattresses. If you think tempur is hot, a Simmons with the memory foam on top will be no different. Try to find one with latex on the top. It tends to be the coolest foam and it conforms similarly to memory foam.

I went back to the mattress store and actually tried the new line of beds Tempurpedic has just put out for "people who hate Tempurpedic beds." The one I was on is called the 'Weightless Supreme' and I gotta say, I was pleasently surprised. No longer does it feel like you're sleeping on sand. This had the firmness and comfort of a Tempurpedic bed but at the same time, you could roll back and forth like you were on a regular mattress. And of course, the new mattresses are supposed to be much more cooler than the 1st generation I was on years ago.

Not sure about how they do it but it's a totally different feel from the other Tempurpedic beds in the showroom. I think I might be getting this one...

I read it's better for your back in the long term if you sleep on the hard pavement out in the yard. I've been doing it for a year now and it really works

Lazy college kid here with limited options, but these things actually work moderately well:

All I know is spend good money on shoes and mattresses. It's worth it.

Two things I dont cheap out on and I'm a cheap motherfucker.
