Should you start Twittering?

"I've got to twitter about this" - LOL

I am going to blog this. On Wordpress, not twitter. Ok maybe both.

Besides the jokes, check how high twitter is ranking for hot keywords... I registered a few good ones a while back. Out of 20 or so I'd check for a hot niche there would be a few available. Have fun!

Whilst I also hate Twitter with a passion, an interesting whinge from a friend that owns a small business made me look into it a bit more.

There are actually people out there registering a million fucking Twitter address just to squat on them (it's like a lamer, less valuable version of domain squatting), you should probably register your name, your regular alias, and maybe even your site name, just to make sure some other arsehole doesn't...

What's even sadder is that some of these guys are even making all of their squatted accounts follow each other, so they'll bullshit you and say it's already got followers on the account, so they've made it valuable and you should pay them for it.

The dumbest thing is that Twitter doesn't seem to do anything to stop this.

Welp, to me it's only as good as the automated handsfree quality traffic it can bring into my sites. Let me know when it can bring me quality traffic on autopilot...

me thinks the fail whale will beach soon

The moment the next big thing comes along how many will abandon it?

Although it has simple on its side, it doesn't seem that sticky.

Almost too simple. Easy to grasp, but... I dunno.
And they took the spamming potential out way too early.

I, along with many, think that twitter is basically the facebook status system. It's kind of invasive into peoples privacy in some aspects...do I really need to know what all of the people I work with are doing or thinking every 30 minutes?

On the other hand, it adds a dash of character to a site/brand/person. The majority of the people I know that use twitter do so to drive traffic to their blogs. I guess it all really depends on your view of online social networks. Just my two cents.....
