Problem: Uploading would still result in YOUR consciousness dying while the upload gets to live forever.
Solution: We'll teleport our brain into a pre-built neural network of nanobots that's catered to our brain. They'll connect to, and work in conjunction with our brain cells and transfer ourselves into a robotic exoskeleton.
These scientists seem to have the idea that you would live on as normally, in the uploaded world. I digress from that way of thinking because I don't think it's reasonable to assume you will resume life from your new consciousness in this digital form.
IE. Your CONSCIOUSNESS might live on, it will be exactly like you, in every sentence and thought, but it's not you because you're dead.
EDIT: To clarify more... I mean there would be NO possible way to even tell if you were really you or not.. because it is you.. except it's not. So therefore there's no way to even determine that your alive in your new digital world. The best way I can thinking to describe it at this hour is think of the movie Ghost... He just died and he's trying to get her attention saying "Hey, I'm right here, not down there!" But no, she sees him there and it looks exactly like him, so it's him to her.
I just cannot even fathom how they could upload YOU, YOURSELF so YOU could continue on in a digital world. Anyways, that's just my thoughts on it. Seriously, hooray for all these advancements but I feel like if you get a chip in your brain the government is going to have an executive order forcing all makers of these to force RFID inside, without the knowledge of the public for "terrorism" safety (but hopefully they're using some other fear mongering technique by then or... maybe not)
When I think of this shit it's really cool in essence, but someone always has to go and fucking ruin a good thing. Government will be all over this shit demanding to know what every single one of us is thinking and seeing at all times making it the epitome of privacy invasion and I see no point living at all after this point.
