I helped a guy with his seo on a cat/dog and pet sitting service... He does well for a small home run business.. has about 7 or 8 people now employed as full time sitters, plus himself and his wife do it...

that is a very, VERY common thing accross Europe... Everybody and their mother is in it. And not to mention the big offline presence....
I saw a local guy doing a mobile knife sharpening business, not sure on how profitable it was... But lets face it mostly all of our kitchen knives are dull, and this guy would drive around to sharpen all kitchen knives. Same kind of service when I used to work in a kitchen only for residential folks, since well, knives gonna go dull. He seems to do OK. Sorry this isn't as amazing as a taxi service that caters to jefferys, sometimes it's the simplest ideas that do the best.
1. Hire VA to read NY Times, WSJ, or whatever and then download each morning for those that have a commute to listen to daily. Simple timesaver, scalable, etc. Legal? You are being paid to read, not stealing content - better check that though. Who knows maybe this is already being done.
2. Find local subsidies. Hire young cheap labor to knock on doors and sell leads to contractors. For example there are many subsidy programs, rebates and 100% loans for new windows, driveways, roofing, etc. This is similar to what the solar guys are doing, but better and an easier sale.
3. Get EPA RRP certification and sell certifications to local contractors for their qualifying jobs.
4. Buy a Roach Coach. Make gourmet food. Park in front of restaurants in downtown busy areas and undercut the restaurants that had to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for permits, furniture, location etc.
The following are things I see being done in some poorer areas of CA:
1. Fill trunk of car with peanuts. Park at Grocery Store. Sell bags to consumers.
2. Make tamales, sell in same lot.
2.5 Bootleg DVD's & CD's - sell in same lot.
3. There's a guy in LA with 2,000+ corn carts. The workers come in the morning and grab a cart filled with corn (the mayonnaise,butter,cheese type). They must walk the streets and sell all day $100 worth of corn. They split the cash 50/50 at the end of the day.
4. Teach classes to local residents on what to say and not to say to police; offer free consultation, at the police station, with your lawyer partner should they ever get pulled in. This is a real money maker for the lawyer. They get caught all of the time paying the Police or Guards to send them business (which is illegal) - this way you are meeting your customer ahead of time.

The corn is soaked in butter that has mayonnaise in it for some reason then covered in like a parmesan type cheese.
Go to any downtown area in California, you will see this,

To add to the drunk taxi idea, there is a business around my area that will pick you up when you are drunk and drive you and your car home for you, which allows you to not have to get a ride the next morning to pick up your car from wherever it was left. It's a two person team- one drives your car, while the other person drives a company vehicle. By putting up flyers in bars or anywhere else that serves alcohol you get decent business, and depending on the competition in the area, you can charge however much you want.

There's two of them in the large local mall here, and a couple in the town center, all constantly full of ladys sitting with feet in tanks.. all you need is shop unit, fish tanks and fish.. £10 a go..
Does well as women all stop and gaze through windows at people with feet in tanks, then have a go themselves..

One night after drinking too much cask ale I came up with the idea for the Fart Filter 2000. Basically it would be something like a scented dryer sheet with Velcro on it so you can stick it to the inside of your underwear and make your farts smell like fresh laundry.
