So After 9,000 Impressions and 6 clicks I figured I better change something

Try running it in the Search network only (separate from a Content-only campaign) and analyze the different results. For the search campaign, try a few different ad copies that are targeted to specific groups of keywords.

For the content network, consider an image ad instead of text. You could even make the image look like text, but make it eye-catching. I am also pretty sure you can get away with brand names in the image ad. ;)

If in doubt, find the merchant's logo containing the (TM) or (R) and blend it in nicely with your image.

Just my 2 cents.

I did notice that it was the content network that was killing my ratio. I did happen to adjust it right before reading this post, but thanks though.

Today I wrote some new ads and resumed one of the campaigns. I think from now on I'll keep off the content network intially, then ad it when a campaign shows good return.

I've thought about images, but just haven't taken the plunge, yet. I'll update later with my results. You guys rock!

This is the first time I've been hit with the QS like this...After I activated the campaign a while ago, I check my stats and a heap of keywords have been disabled, but they haven't even been served. Is this normal? They wan't me to bump up 10 more cents. I think I'll pause those words and when my score goes up I'll reactivate them.

Okay, can somebody tell me what is going on. I check my ads, for a certain keyword they say I'm averaging around 4 point something in results, which is true from when I checked the other day. But I checked again after activating the campaign and even though it says I should be on the fron page, my ad is on the 2nd page. I double my cost, thinking I'd get back to where I was and I'm still on the 2nd page, even though they say I'm averaging in the top 5.

WTF?!

Now I know I'm not going crazy there are less than 2 dozen advertisers bidding on this keyword and there ads are showing up multiple times before mine. That isn't supposed to happen is it?

Obviously google's estimation of ad placement is horribly innacurate. The only way to see where your ad ranks os to find it yourself.

It seems like you're really stressing this, so maybe it's better to pull the plug and move on.

I've labored over campaigns like this where it seemed like the world (and the Almighty Goog) was totally against me, and eventually I got them fairly profitable. But it still wasn't worth it because of the negative mindset and frustration I got into (a crappy state of mind is just bad for business).

There's plenty more fish in the sea.

I understand where you're coming from, but I'm not in a negative mindstate, I juys know there must be a way to make it work. And I am of the mindset that when I get this to work, other tasks will be much easier.

Somebody is making money on giftcards through PPC, so why not me too?

Thus far I think Google is lying. There's no way in hell you can get 10,000 impressions through SEARCHwith exact match and phrase match and get less than 2 dozen clicks when you are in a top 5 slot. None as far as I know.

I just really want to get something going before I move on, otherwise I'll feel like I quit or something. Then again, because I'm still on my way to becoming a PPC expert, that is why i asked earlier what is a good cut off point for killing a campaign when you don't get clicks.

I'll give it a bit more or less based on feedback, such as yours. Thanks for the thoughts.
