I upgraded my computer system a bit ago and added an additional monitor onto the setup (I got that sexy beast of a Mac Pro desktop running the operation now).

Ever since adding an additional screen, my eyes have been completely fucked and bloodshot. I feel like I'm going blind with all the work that I've been doing.

For you guys out there that work atleast half the amount of time I do, do you have any suggestions for preventing stress on the eyes? Do I need new glasses - again?

Oh yea

When my eyes get like that, I take more breaks or periodically look off into the distance and let my eyes refocus on something further away. Helps with the eye strain.

Might want to check your lighting too. I heard a light bar can help sometimes shining down from above the monitors. Not sure if that works though, never tried it.

3 monitors is sick though. I was just thinking about getting another PC with a 21" LED to add to my other two widescreen monitors.

Hey ryan, someone posted a software that always runs in your bg that dims the monitor to a slightly red tint based on the time of day, so the contrast isn't as harsh on the eyes, but can't seem to find it.

Your eyes blink less than half as much as normal when staring at a monitor. Eye drops help some people.

The more monitors, the more chance that you are looking from angles. Try turning your chair a bit or whatever to look straight on at each monitor.

Don't spend too much time staring at makemoniesonline.

Get a bottle of Clear eyes. No seriously, sounds silly but when I feel my eyes start stressing I hit them with some clear eyes. I find applying every few hours keeps the eye strain away. I think it may have something to do with not blinking enough.

I would also check to make sure the refresh rate is as high as possible on your monitors. I know it made a big difference on my LCD when I moved it from 60 hz to 72. I had the same issues with eye strain and headaches.

Apply Pomodoro tecniques and make a break every 25 minutes, 5 minutes of relax for your eyes.
Exercise and tears are enough.
Make eyes exercises at least 2 times a day. I am in front of my 4 monitors till 12 hours a day and I don't need glasses.

You make it sound like the eye probs are happening BECAUSE of the new monitor. If that's the case then you'll have to limit the amt of light hitting your eyes somehow.

Otherwise, drinking plenty of water, blinking, and using moisturizing eye drops will prob help a lot.

That light program helps my eyes a lot, they barely strain anymore.
Infront of a monitor around 16 hours a day

Yeh f.lux is good when your working into the early hours, remember to turn it off for any design/graphics work or you'll get a surprise when you view it on another pc!

Laptop. I can be on 16 hours a day and I'll be fine, but if I spend 2 hours on a monitor OH FUCK MY EYES, IT BURNS.

Same here, I've tried multiple monitors and it just kills my eyeballs.

Went back to the laptop. Something about looking at a slightly downward
angle just feels better to me.

Not having much screen real estate is a real drag though, might give f.lux
a try and see how it works out.
