So, someone called me last night....

its pretty funny, my dad, who is smart and owns a successful business and real estate. Bought 2 rebill products at 2 different times after i told all about acai blogs and told him never, ever to get a free trial product.

He bought wu-yi about 6 months ago, and i think he just got the acai for men. But he was able to cancel pretty easily for both.

cool

It's funny that your dad's smart or that he owns a successful business in real estate? I don't get it :conehead:

I never bother with WHOIS protection because it doesn't actually protect you from the only people you should really be worried about. That being said, I do have all my domains registered through one of my companies, with either company or PO Box address and company phone. I've had 2 calls total, so it's no big deal. Both times I had to explain to them that I was not the advertiser and pointed them in the right direction to get their money back.

set up a line and just answer it with the msg of your choosing:

Phone Recording Archive

I like to use this one:
The phone you are using does not allow outgoing calls...for customer assistance, please hang up and dial 611
cause it gives them something better to do.

There are companies you can hire to put their information in the domains for you, and they claim only law enforcement will force them to release the info. But whats the point? Do like the others have said. Register a company out of state, get a business phone, or if you're really cheap, a jConnect voice mail box/fax which forwards all voice messages right to your email. Put your mothers name in the WHO IS info or your arch enemy from high school. It doesnt matter.

Worst case, put all bogus info inside, and you'll only be contacted by the registrar if someone tries to contact you, can't, and complains to them - but theyll send you a courteous email telling you to update it. Again, you really want a way for people to get you indirectly. You never know who is offering to pay you $500,000 for your domain, or what lawyer is sending you a nice C&D hoping to resolve the issue via a quick email vs. rolling up their sleeves and creating a real suit. Because once they put their sweat into it, theres no turning back, and you're screwed. So spend a few measly dollars and do it right.

Dude, are you really a marketing person?

Just tell her that in order to cancel she must fill out a survey. Then send her to a CPA survey and milk her some more.

My "address" is some mail box owned by an old guy.

My "Phone" is some prepaid cell phone I no longer use.
