So what GUNS do you own? I'll start with a couple of mine.

On a different level, Tazers rock. You can shock the shit out of someone if you have to and still not kill anyone....

On a related note, several police officers have told my father that if someone breaks into your home, you're "supposed" to warn them verbally 3 times that you will fire, and if you do fire, you shoot to kill. Otherwise they can turn around and sue you, it has happened.

Though after they mentioned the "3 verbal warnings", they always hinted on how they thought it was bullshit. 1 is enough if you shoot to kill. ;)

So really if I had the option between a tazer and a gun, I'll go with the gun.

I forgot to renew my license in time. Got a call from the cops asking me to come and turn it on the buy back scheme when I had the spare time :(
Ah well, it's a good thing my swords were bought back before they had licensing requirements... Even if the fencing clubs are more expensive than gun ranges.

Awesome! So if a rapist comes to your house with a gun(illegally obtained), you can throw your superior values at him! That'll show him!
Statistically speaking, you're more likely to be hit by lightning...

No, it's a self-defense issue, regardless of how others try to reframe it.

No it's not just a self-defense issue. The point I am making is that guns don't=violence for everyone.

People from large cities who've been affected by random gun violence want to make it harder for unstable criminals to get guns....

People who feel unsafe want guns for protection....

People who want the right to share a family past time don't want that right taken away....

Yeah, and some states require that if a burglar enters your house, by force or not, and you can get out of the house, you must do so. Fortunately, in Nevada/ Texas they don't have to "break in" all they have to do is trespass and you can shoot them. :D

The moment I saw this thread title, I knew that there would be at least one fuckwit that would come in and bleed his vagina all over the place about how guns are evil. Sigh.

Anyway, I currently have a Ruger 9mm, a Remington 30-06, and a Mossberg 12 gauge that has been *ahem* tactically modified to a length that I'd rather not disclose here.

I carried a Ruger 9mm the entire time I was in the military and because I'd spent countless, COUNTLESS hours with it at the range and in tactical training exercises, I can pretty honestly say that I can anything the size of a gnat's ass or larger within 25 yards. What it lacks in punch, it makes up for in being a decently dependable and consistent weapon.

That's why I have it secured (with a trigger lock and no, I don't even have children) within half-arm's reach of my bed.

The rifle and shotgun are locked up in a gun locker in the closet. As a sentry, we also carried 18" barrel Mossberg 12 gauges as well and so I got pretty acclimated to that length. How it's been modified since then is...well...something only me and the poor asswipe that has the unfortunate brainfart to break into my house will know (provided I haven't already touched him twice center-mast and dotted his "i" just for good measure with the 9mm first).

The Remington 30-06 I've had for years. It's a great gun.

My present to myself in the next month or so will be an USP combat tactical H&K .45:

i'm a fan of japanese swords myself. thief comes into my house, i'll stand around the corner and slice him in half. :D

It infuriates me to no small extent that Georgia's law isn't so cut-and-dry. The law is wide open for interpretation because of its vague wording. However, just about two weeks ago some asshole broke into a ~60 year old woman's house right here in Atlanta (go figure) and she stabbed him to death with a knife. The reports all stated that she was within her rights even though he was technically not attempting to cause her or her family bodily harm at the time of the stabbing.

So that's a very promising case for us Georgia residents to fall back on.

Another gripe I have with Georgia is that they don't accept South Carolina's CWP certification so I have to go get another one here. Hell, if I move another couple of times, I will be eligible to carry a concealed weapon nearly everywhere in the country (where permissible by law, of course).

In all honesty (and as asinine as it may sound), if you are alerted to an intruder's presence quickly enough so that you are able to corral yourself and your family into a temporary, makeshift secure location then announcing your presence (and the fact that you are armed) may just be enough of a deterrent for the assailants to flee the premises under the presumption that authorities have already been notified.

But the moment they attempt to gain access to that location, my vote is that all bets are off. ;)

Of course, this scenario will only work out this way if you are given enough notice of the break-in to carry out such a procedure. In a typical family home, that pretty much means that you will have had to see them coming up the driveway blowing an air horn.

Agreed.

Damn you Americans and your laxed gun laws damn Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, I'm so jealous.

I could prolly list alot of reasons here but you wont really see through them, your eyes are too glazed on guns.

I knew this point would come so there we have it. I am pretty satisfied I said what I came to say so I will give up now before we hit round-abouts.

Currently I have:

A Marlin 917VS - Fun little rodent gun/cheap plinker
scaled.php

And a Winchester Lever Action .32 - Its a real ground pounder and will certainly fuck shit up.

Sometime in the near future im looking to follow geekcognito and get an H&K USP 45 or possibly a Glock 21 (.45) or a Glock 17 (9mm) - My dream gun is the Springfield M1A in Scout Squad flavor.

Im also a huge whore for Mil Surp rifles and at some point would like to get my hands on a M1 Garand in 30-06.

Damn you Geekcognito, now I am going to have to buy one of those. Haven't seen it in the local shop yet but Gun Broker here I come. I'll post pics of me shooting it at the range next week :-/...........Such a sweet looking gun (can't go wrong with an H&K either).

Thanks for that post.
