Here's a question for you... If you had a licensed firearm, would you intervene? Would you help the young lady? I'm convinced one of the reasons people avoid involvement in such things is the uncertainty of an arbitrary court ruling that may ruin their life.
You're absolutely right. I don't want to get rape in jail for helping someone. Say the exact same situation happened in Somalia, or some lawless country, I would pump a couple rounds in the guy's ass, have a beer and call it a day.
