Youtube search "kids videos" https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kids+video
Notice how nearly all the videos have 50/50 dislike to like ratio? Now why would anyone dislike a kids video 20k times?

Looks like somebody is testing a spam bot?

I suspect that Google uses the like/dislike ratio for ranking videos. So it would be useful to knockout competing videos by giving them tons of dislikes.

Yeah its someone using a spambot but why kids videos. Literally every kids video has it.
 
My guess is they are just testing it or they have competing videos they want to rank.
 
I wonder how much of your freaky shit can be explained by the target audience just randomly pressing shit on the ipad. My 2 year old uses the ipad like a champ now, but when he was 1 it wasn't always that way.

Yeah they are definitely testing something. Probably because kids videos are less likely to be noticed.

I dont know how ios works w/regard to users, but does your kid not use the ipad as a guest user or under his own account and if so, he has a google/youtube account? (needed to rate/comment)
 
Kid related videos are one of the biggest niches on Youtube though. I read an article a while ago about how there are a couple channels making a few million a year doing reviews or just showing new kids toys. Here is the biggest channel in that niche:

The article also said that the kids viewing the videos are usually logged into their parent's account, so they are being shown ads for things like At&t and whatnot. Basically a total waste for the advertiser if it is just a 5-15 year old kid watching it.
 
Toddlers just bash the iPad screen. Mine has down voted and reviewed videos on my account many times.
 
I checked this out by searching "Mary had a little lamb" and some videos had either-

1 - the like/dislike bar removed
2 - had half dislike/like ration
3. weird comments like this:

"Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow;
One night it went to the club,
And dropped it hella lowl."
 
The comments look like typical spambot nonsensical comments. But they could also just be kids mashing on the screen. Also hobbster is correct, both likes and dislikes boost your ranking, because that particular ranking factor is just "total ratings" not likes:dislikes ratio. The caveat is if you're actually trying to sell something or promote a website and people see too many dislikes, they'll assume it's garbage and will close the video.
