And you know what, i'll still buy a PS3. Why? Because PlayStation's kick some major fucking ass! Who had a better console than the ps1? Yea that N64 rocked with its 32 bit processor. Oh, the PS2? Who had a true 64 system? I couldn't even answer my own question.

PS3's Cell Processor? Have you even researched that? Not to mention their LCD TVs/monitors.

Just because they have shit batteries doesn't make them a belly flopping corporation. How many other name brand electronics distributor has a contract with the # game developer in the world?

Yea SQUARE has the highest sales for any RPG game and Sony has exclusive rights to any FF full fledged release.

Can you play FF IV, V, VI, VII, VII X, XI on your xbox? nah probably not.
Square Enix has already stated they are not commetted to just one box like they were last gen and chances are the numbered series FF will not be so exclusive anymore.

Also, Sony doesn't have exclusive rights to any FF release. You have FF:CC on the Cube & Wii you also have FF III, FF: VII Revenant Wings, & a FF:CC on the DS and a ton of Final Fantasy's on the GBA.

But will some batteries ruin Sony, nah. But everything combined will end up spelling buy out in a few years.

I don't know if anyone said this already but blu-ray wasn't invented by sony and blu-ray will be the next thing after dvd.

Nah. Digital distribution will be. HD-DVD will cushion the short transistion into that while Blu-Ray will go the wayside very fast. :p

Well i think they are taking a slack ass approcah to the way they do business. The only thing that kept sony alive this yr was the PSP and the continured sales of the PS1. The PSP is outsold by an extreme margin to the Nintendo DS and Gameboy advanced.

Also Microsoft was getting its ass whooped with the xbox 360 sales, due to the fact that more users were still buying the PS1 and Xbox. Nintendo Wii will be sold for 200ish dollars where as the new PS3 and Xbox will continue to sell at higher prices. This holiday season the Wii will be the big winner.

As far as the Blu-Ray discs , its not just all sony. Sony is a part of it, but toshiba, fujitsu and many other companies are in this blu-ray association so the blu-ray wil not have any effect on sony either way.

But yeah sony is hurting. What parent would not buy a Nintendo Wii for their kids when it costs less than half of PS3.

Just my opinion, but i have read about this downward spiral of sony and microsoft. Microsoft is losing its ass on the xbox360 also.

sure microsoft runs the xbox 360 as a loss leader but what they loose on consoles they make up for on games. Read there last 10q, this is the whole razor blade business model, the parts on the 360 run around $500 but it sells for $300 $400? how many games does someone with a 360 buy? does the average person have 10 games? 20? that is were the money is for them!

chris - great way of putting it..

It's also like how HP makes money off their printer cartridges, not their printer sales.

sure, for alot of things, ie ink it is getting to be an outdated business model because of ink refills, games have the used industry as well so businesses need to figure out how to work with that system.
