Stan I think you will get that with just about any big name PC or notebook.....? Overall it seems like a good unit.

cool im definately going for the Sony.......

My 2 cents: I've owned 2 dells and the hinges broke on BOTH. I'm a die hard IBM thinkpad or bust kind of guy as I've knocked mine off a wall that was about 8 feet high and it didn't even phase it in the least. Only problem is the biggest screen they make it 15 inch. Wish they had a 17. By the way those new Powerbooks that run Vista look pretty sweet :)

...what he said. My Thinkpad has been really good to me plus it's super portable.

Plus with the Vaio you get free DRM! I wouldn't put it past those bitches to embed that shit in the hardware. Good TVs tho.

This is a more affordable option.

never buy a sony
the minute you turn it on.. you'll regret it
it's got so much of sony's spamware and crap that you'll spend hours uninstalling it
or you'll need to do a clean system install from the very beginning .. but either way, waste of time

Dell did the same thing for my XPS notebook as far as putting tons of crap on it. But I found a nifty program online that removes all the crap in a minute. Then I just manually went in and took care of the rest. Problem solved and my computer is blazing fast and happy.

btw i used an HP desktop before I got my Dell. I hate HP with a passion, it's not just the stuff they install on your computer, but the are butt ugly machines too.

<3 XPS M1210

I hate sony with a passion. go for an apple or dell. Although the outer appearance looks nice, the machine is a piece of SHIT.

jerxs some have it worse than others
Sony and HP are the worst.... Acer, IBM are a little bit better.

dru I think it's called dell decrapifier? something like that..

I dont care anymore. I took my dell 700m out of storage, got rid of XP and put ubuntu edgy + xgl + beryl on it :) looks pretty awesome

I have a very beautiful VAIO for over a year now, dropped like $2.2k on it (minus $400 in rebates/discounts), and have loved it.

I only had to upgrade my RAM, and voila, perfect system for me.

I've got an XPS 1710. I'd love to have a link to that program.

Don't buy a Sony... Get a XPS.

I do like the aesthetics of the Sony Vaio's, but they are quite pricey. I'm not sure if there's anything apart from the looks and brand name of the Vaio laptops that warrant the leap in price compared to Sony's competitors, though.

Right now I'm on an Acer Aspire 3610, and was looking at getting a MacBook 13", as I'm after a light and small notebook.

I would go for a dell, instead of Vaio. I have a dell laptop that i have been using for the last 3 years. The laptop works great and I have nothing to complain ago.
With Vaio, you are paying a lot just for the "Sony" brand name.

My Sony is great (everyones experience is different). I thought the retail price was insane so I went to there outlet and bought a 17" Vaio for 1050 including shipping last year. Without the deal I would never have bought it though.

Well I decided to purchase an ACER instead, basically the same stats as the Sony, with a smaler HD, which is really no biggy, it has a dual core processor and 1g of memory which should be more than enough to run multiple applications fairly smoothe.....

Im really siked, though my business is expanding, if you asked me six months ago if I would be able to swing a lap top and a couple dedicated servers (I have yet to buy into, but hopefully ill have them tonight) I would have told you know....

Ive been paying bills with most of my income so far, but am actually begining to pocket money and be able to buy extras to expand which is a really great feeling.......

get er done ..... Jer :)

which model did you get? got my aspire back in sept. - compusa was running a deal on it. i did have one problem with it: i yanked the headphone cable really hard once and broke the connector. sent it in (free shipping both ways!) and got it back a week later - pretty good service.

i think you'll be pleased with it.
