SSD VPS Faster than HDD VPS?

Only if serving dynamic/database heavy content.

For static pages, the difference is negligible.

I have a bunch of WP sites, all have cache plugins running.

From Scum_bag's reply, I'm guessing that a SSD VPS would only improve the admin area & search speed whereas cached pages will see only minor improvements, is that right?

If your website need heavy read/write, yes

If you website do complicate calculate, speed will increase a bit

If you are running static website, different will be insignificant

CPU + HDD speed + bandwidth, any part could be bottle neck, depends on your website

Yeah, it's significantly faster.

Is it worth the upgrade? What are you doing? The more disk based processing being performed, the more benefit you will see from an SSD VPS.

I got a killer deal on my VPS from Servermania. I only pay $56/year for mine. Woo!! It's unmanaged, but that's no big deal, just do some reading, throw WHM and a good firewall on it. Takes a couple hours to configure properly.

Its STUPID fast.

Performance that you can actually see really comes down to your processor not how fast the information is writing to the HD. Don't get me wrong an SSD will increase speeds but negligible compared to a quicker processor.
