Store Clerk Steals Customer's $1 Million Dollar Lottery Ticket And Is Believed To Hav

I had this exact conversation with my wife a week or so ago after watching the "Lotto Winners - Where Are They Now" show on TLC or whatever.

These people who win 75 million on Powerball are complete morons most of the time. They deserve all the problems they get because they're not with it enough to make good decisions.
yup did remember the possible dope smokin hippie couple that lives out on a ranch?

they are like the only ones who didnt end up broke/fucked up/committing suicide and the first thing they did was set up a trust for the money with lawyer or whatever.

I'm tired of all the people that talk about how they need to win the lottery or what they would do if they won the lottery that don't even buy lottery tickets.

Obviously they're not very serious about achieving their lofty goals.

This.

Ok. People are STUPID when the when the lottery. I would be paranoid as HELL. (Ok ok I tend to move that direction anyway) If I won, first I would research the next step before doing ANYTHING. I think that you're supposed to see a tax attorney before going to the office to claim your winnings, but even that I would be parnoid about, I would probably put the ticket in lock box at the bank and then I would ask the attorney what I should with a lotto winning without telling him how much there was. When I claimed the prize I would put it in a trust fund for sure. Also I would, to the best of my ability, request to stay anonymous as possible. People get down right weird around lotto winners.

....not that I've ever given this much thought.

It's funny, you'd think winning the lottery would be such an awesome occasion, but I've seen a show on TLC, something like "The Lottery Changed My LIfe" or something to that effect. For most people, it causes nothing but trouble. People who were barely in your life start coming out of the woodwork acting like your best friend. Random people calling and stopping by your place begging for money. Death threats. People just blowing through it inside a year with nothing to show for it. Etc. It's just sad really. Anything over 10 million goes is invested and I've living off the interest.

Wherever I was I would probably leave the country and go somewhere where nobody knew I had won, and just ignore all the people back home who tried to leech.

I would imagine that it would not very hard to make good decisions when you win any large sum of money.

Create corporation, collect ticket in corp's name, spend 10 percent straight off the bat while your accountant throws the rest into investments.

My wife has told me that winning the lottery is the only way I'll achieve my dream of opening a 30+ rig computer gaming center in West Omaha.

Occasionally I play the lottery and sometimes I win a few quid but more often and not I don't win anything.

But there is one thing in the UK all Lottery Wins are Tax Free.

Your wife either has a very pessimistic view of the world, or a very pessimistic view of your capabilities
