So what the fuck is the diferance between a Vegas casino and shady Google get rich quick scheme?

since I think you really don't see the difference I'd like to help you..

the casino doesn't make any false claims. they straight up tell you you'll lose if you ask. they don't say "you can make six figures in your underwear at this blackjack table!"

clearer?

edit: also, casinos have a lobbying industry that is bigger than the affiliate marketing industry itself.

Lobbying that got them social acceptance is really the only difference. Casinos still do make wild claims of who won how much in the past, just the public has a better understanding that it is not a sure thing. Which is actually pretty funny, since under the new FTC guidelines, casinos would not be able to talk about their "not typical" winnings.

Affiliate industry needs to stop acting like a bunch of gangsta douchebags and work on a positive public image. If you self-identify as a crook, you just made AG's job easier.

it's becoming more about low enough to push the next big scam or whose false advertising is more effective. when you look at real businesses, the factors to success are innovation, operating on the long term, adding value and generally what a proper business should be. AM is becoming more and more the complete opposite.

I haven't posted in months... QFT.

I have my own reasons for not hanging out here often anymore, but I really agree with that statement.

When business becomes making quick money selling products that provide no value to the end user, you don't have a business.

man, you won my respect and lost my respect on a single page - that's never happened before. man up and be somebody...

I actually take back what I said about the specific examples of kinda weird actions. I didn't mean to point out specific people. Just an illustration of what went down in the last year

Specifically, I take back what I said about Ryan Eagle because I'm pretty sure that was after the deregulation and I'm pretty sure he had anything to do with circulating that there is a Facebook deregulation or encouraging Obama ads. And of course I'm pretty sure everyone respects his hustle and the necessity to grow the publisher base.

And nicky cakes and uber are better affiliates than most of us, so I shouldn't be talking, plus networks are super happy. Nonetheless, still really don't understand their philosophical stance of instructing people to par take in affiliate marketing with basically no technical skills, legal understanding and knowledge that they're in some way or shape going to blow things up.

The funniest part is that whoever enthusiastically breaks whatever industry news on wickedfire is forgotten 99% of the time. This thread is actually a good piece of news

All men are frauds. The only difference between them is that some admit it. I myself deny it.

Just remember the A.G. will give you what they think you deserve and deny you what they think you want.

But seriously though...

So what the fuck is the diferance between a Vegas casino and shady Google get rich quick scheme?

Maybe I am a bit to tipsy and cant think right but am I wrong?

Yes you are wrong.

Everyone knows the odds to winning in a casino. But if you showed them a weight loss or get rich quick scam with fake testimonials and reviews about the product, most will fall for it.

How could you even compare pushing a scam with gambling???
Do you bet $2.95 on table then get charged $79.95 a month for losing?
Did Lisa, a single mother of two win $200000 by going to a casino?
Did NewsChannel6 do a report on how you can win $200000 gambling in a casino?
Do casinos make false claims? Sure they might bloat success stories but some guy actually did win a bucket of cash whereas Dan did not make $500 a week by posting links for google.

People who gamble do it for the thrill. They know full well that they are likely to lose. But winning feels awesome so they take the chance.

A scam is backed up with fake reviews and testimonials topped up with a risk free trial of $2.95 which then charges them $80 a month until they cancel their credit card.

So please don't try to justify scam rebills... You can only admit your a scammer and continue doing it or you can accept the truth and not promote it.

...or you can deny it, make bs excuses and try to be black you're black like most of WFers :338:

I don't know. Even before I was in this industry and I was going to buy something online, I ALWAYS read the fine print. There's a fucking reason it's there. Aren't we going to place some responsibility on the consumer? Is it really our fault that most people are stupid fucks?

Isn't' this sort of a consumer natural selection? Smart= probably not going to get sucked into rebill/or capable of canceling rebill. Dumb= get rebilled to shit.

Flame away, please.

Most of those companies don't even follow their own terms.

Canceling is basically blocked in every way possible.

I'm not flaming you but telling you what actually goes on.

Then bitch about companies not observing their own terms, not that the terms are wrong or inappropriate.

It is business, a willing buyer meets a willing seller, which goes for consumers too. Personal responsibility comes first, government is not your nanny to tell you what to buy.

But yeah, don't talk with the authrorites until you have a lawyer and if you do time or get fined, it is called what comes around, goes around. KARMA!

Easy! Ain't no one doing time over this shit! Probably get a slap on the wrist (i.e. some sort of fine). Even the big dawgs who run infomercials on TV don't do time. They pay their multi-million dollar fines, and move on to the next project.

Look at Kevin Trudeau or any number of weight loss supplement companies. None of them got time and their shit is a LOT bigger in scope than a few measly affiliate sales!

It's the Florida Attorney General. Bill is running for governor of Florida, so they'll be spearheading some investigations into the new deceptive advertising area because its a hot topic and pretty rampant to nab. The subpoena was pretty general too, because it was sent to a handful of networks, whether they were the AOR's or not, if you own a network, there's a good chance you'll be getting one. Bill is actually a really smart and fair guy considering he's a state AG, and he's not foolish like most people make AG's to be.

You should NOT be giving up any information on your affiliates, especially without having your lawyer involved. If a network does this, they should be blacklisted from the industry by EVERYONE. Because that's just know your rights 101. Any lawyer would look it over and see that they are making very general inquiries, which means they are just fishing for information without going in-depth or spending much cash investigating things further. Free information is as cheap as it comes.

They are requesting information of all affiliates running WHATEVER.COM and including no other details. That means no dates. No ID's/campaigns. No traffic sources to tie it to... NOTHING.

So if you're a network, and you've been hit with a subpoena and you've chosen to fork over your affiliates' information, then you have just become the biggest imbeciles of the industry, no question about it, and no affiliate in his or her right mind should ever do business with you again.

Do business at your own risk.

I love living outside the US. Yeah they can still get me some way but its a hell of a lot harder since I am a European.

I never said anything about the government...

I agree that people should actually learn to take care of themselves these days but that doesn't give you a right to make bs claims and say that they should of searched it up first.

You don't read the ingredients when you buy food just to make sure there isn't poison in it. A real product doesn't have anything to hide.

I want to make sure you guys know that I'm not bashing rebills. I have seen some legit ones and trial rebills didn't use to be such a scam before acai got hot. It's actually a great model. Customers can see if they like it. But when you forcefully charge them it ruins the model.

If we just let the people cancel their membership then this whole flog and rebill model wouldn't be getting slaughtered like it is now.

But some dumb motherfuckers decided it would be better to bank a few million in two years rather than millions and millions over the long term.

All because some interwebz gangstas listened to some attention whores on how they could start scamming fat people with $200 on a campaign.
