Switched from Mac to PC

Take a good look at Directory Opus as a file manager replacement. Built in FTP with secure SSL/SSH connection options. You can perform many tasks with the built-in utilities such that you don't need to launch a full blown app for minor site changes. Customizable toolbars, etc. Best XP productivity tool I've used to date. I use UEStudio for web development. I like it because you can toggle the interface "environment" to access the necessary tools that fit the primary function you need at the moment - notepad replacement, programmer, web developer, etc.

Isn't there something like Expandrive for Windows also? It basically integrates FTP & SFTP & WebDAV & etc. drives to your file manager. At least in Mac it integrates with Finder so there's no difference between using your own HD and using remote server. I like when I don't have to use 3rd party programs. Very handy with remote servers you have to use constantly.

I'm still going to use Adobe products, its just that I have legal copies of them on my MBP so if I need to use PS I'll just hop on my Mac that's right next to my PC. So basically everyone agrees that filezilla is the shit, but I guess I'll have to try out all the different code editors.

Any guesses as to why my MBP sucks? The only difference I can see between my two systems is my Raptor hard drive in the PC (10,000 RPM vs 5400 RPM) but would it make that much of a difference? Same memory, MBP has a better processor, PC has an 8800GTS vs 8600M in the MBP... Maybe once the prices of SSDs drop I'll get one for my Mac.

ftp: winscp
editor: notepad++
fast image editing: irfanview

for the protection i use same combo as you: avg/spybot

- FireFox with some very useful add-ons (still running v2)
- TotalCommander (Built in FTP) for managing files, editing and viewing them
- Notepad++
- AntiVir (Free)
- Jing
and of course trillian and winamp :)

Anti-virus is a waste of CPU cycles and I/O. Just get ClamWin and scan things manually when you don't trust the source.

Use Chrome as your browser to avoid any spyware.
