text-link-ads doesn't care about their publishers

I haven't tried to contact them so I don't know how responsive they are. I don't see what's wrong with their interface, though... it seems pretty intuitive.

It is annoying that they base prices on the Alexa rank, because my main site is in a niche where most people aren't much into tech and therefore are unlikely to have the Alexa toolbar installed.

Well, I have to say that the Alexa ranking thing is probably the worst possible way that they can judge traffic. My blog is geared towards those who would be smart enough to not have Alexa installed (some spyware blockers detect it). So, I have just lost a substantial sum thanks to how TLA generates their prices and how they determine acceptance into their program.

tla is a good company. anytime i've mailed them with a question i've gotten a response in under 24 hrs. they base their pricing on alexa + link popularity. you have a better way to estimate link value? if you do then go out and find your own advertisers.

I can't believe they would be so retarded as to use alexa for basing prices.

I do find my own advertisements, that's why I asked them to close my account.
not to mention a 50% cut is pretty steep for the very little work that they do

They are a simple mediator, they do not need to take that generous of a cut. I mean, come on! Why should I pay $100 for an ad, only to have $50 to the publisher, and vice versa? Even 1% would make them a nice living at the rate they are going, in my opinion.

i've thought about this before - its got to be a great business model for them.

i do use them mainly because its so easy to put their code up and let them do the selling. i've got too many things to work on elsewhere to worry about trying to sell a couple of $10 or $20 monthly links.
