The 10 Day Challenge: Starting at $0...

Subscribed, but I guess I'm not the only one completely confused. Are you reselling a product? A service that you need to perform later?

This thread is supposed to help the guy who needs some cash to start his AM efforts, right?

Either way, good job. I hate the phone, which is why I just quit my technical sales day job. But it freakin works when you're good at it and motivated, no doubt.

So you're basically cold calling people and selling them websites without a website/portfolio to show them?

I know that selling skills and experience make the difference, but, assuming I'm not missing something, there's something weird in this case study.

Are you starting with qualified leads? In this case it would not be like starting with 0, unless you found some quick and free way to generate them.

I follow this thread, it sounds interesting

yep - post .mp3 of the call / transcript or it didn't happen...
LOL

I can see it now.

I call them, stop my pitch then ask them for permission to record this call for quality and training purposes.

The funny thing is, there's so much money out there... I'm utilizing local SEO too btw.

That thread is pretty amazing.

I'm just running in a different direction. I'm going to turn this into an exercise of scaling.

Like I said though, I can't give away my niche as that'll fuck my shit up if I have a bunch of WFers calling my peeps. But, the process is pretty straight forward.

Make this product offering > find people already spending money on a sub-par version > sell them a new one that's cheaper and "better".

I'm just going to explain the nuances, like how to position yourself without overworking... Or how to build systems quickly for this.

I make sure I can meet you and close you within an hour.

It took me a while to refine it though.

I have a portfolio. I'm finding people who are already advertising.

But, the portfolio doesn't really matter. I've only shown two sites to everyone. LOL

Everyone likes that I'm a salesman over a geek.

How built: WP & Joomla

I'm going to sell sites for one more day before switching to local leads (using the money generated from the website sales).

What's your call to conversion ratio so far?

This is fucking pro, why isn't this 5 starred yet, haven't seen a thread like this that delivers in a good while, well done sir.

**edit well played mods, lightning speed

For what it's worth. I'm still trying to get back that guy that dropped out of the sale. Usually these guys end up coming through in the end, just a day late or something. FYI, don't over call.

It makes you look desperate.

Caller spoof FTW.

gotta tell you, this type of thread is why it makes sense to come to wf at all. for every 5000 "should i invest in a vps for ppv traffic" threads or "how come i can't get into network A" threads, there is one that has some serious potential.

congrats on making it.

Since I'm bored while waiting to my Chinese food delivery to arrive:

A CRM to handle the people you actually have a connection with
I installed Sugar CRM's community edition for myself last night.
SugarCRM - Commercial Open Source CRM

A media kit to sell yourself
I got the Adobe Acrobat torrent last night and made the media kit using Word 07.

One or two sites to show as an example if you're selling that sort of thing.
I already have a book of business I can show, but you can simply spend two days building sites for "example businesses".

A contract
I cheated here. I had an attorney draw up one for me years ago that I use as a template. But you can simply use a template found on Google somewhere.
website design contract template - Google Search

A contract processor
I use Electronic Signature Solution - Online Digital Signatures | EchoSign to process my contracts, the client signs the contract online and it takes about 5 minutes start to finish. It's free to sign up if you have a gmail account for the first five contracts a month. I sorta have a few score email accounts... Meh...

A payment processor
I use PayPal and I include it in my sales pitch. "I'm not some fly by night Indian (yes, racism works in sales) company that's going to charge your card and you'll never hear from me again. You've seen my past work, I'm giving you a drop dead good deal that I'm only going to give two more times this month... By the way, you're the third guy paying TODAY alone. Let's make this happen, you don't have to worry about your finances with PayPal."

And a website to refer them to. If you can't build yourself a website you need figure it out with wordpress or joomla.

Oh yeah the biggest thing to take from this is that I'm going to make about 40-70% more once their work is delivered because I'll then upsell & cross-sell local seo.

Building a book of business is what's key. I'm going to show you all how I automate the referral process next.

My goal is to get 2-4 referrals from every client.

They'll all have sites and not know what to do with them, that's when I'll say "well, you know what?..." ;)

So for the $250 you are going to build them a website that capture leads? or are you building a 5 page site in the niche and offering to send leads to them, making them pay $250 upfront to be featured on the site.

I am not trying to steal niches or ideas or anything I just want to know what exactly you are selling them on. Its not much of a case study unless we know whats going on.

Soupy - kudos, bro, kudos. I'm enjoying your journal here.

It sounds to me like you might be using local SEO vs. a local yellow pages book in front of you, cross referencing companies in the yellow pages without web pages, and selling them on the spot.

e.g. "Hello, I was browsing the Yellow Pages, saw your company, and realized you don't have a web page. My company is right down from the road, we're offering a $250 special this week only, a full complete web page etc etc"

Looked at SugarCRM - Wanted to suggest Highrise from 37Signals. Good stuff. Can't wait to see how the rest of this works out.

5 page website that CAN capture leads.

I'll charge for traffic next. The cheap website price ISN'T desperation.
