Since it's the 20th anniversary of it being knocked down and all..

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwQsTzGkbiY]YouTube - "Walled In!" Germany's inner border[/ame]

I was over there at the time. It wasn't as bad as it looked.

Before the wall came down, a beer cost 10 cents at the blackmarket rate. You can't beat that.

germany's history is very intense as we all know... wait till you get to see a concentration camp, I've "only" been to Dachau and it was a pretty intense experience. I definitely want to see Ausschwitz as well. but yeah, glad that germany is back together and that the whole wall BS is gone.

you should rather thank the russians who didnt send any tanks when they openened the wall and the german people who pressured the fascist regime of eastern germany to open its walls...

I'll only thank the Germans because had the Ruskies sent their outdated tanks, Reagan would have crushed their drunk asses with our force in Germany.

Eh , most military types say that the Fulda gap would of been overrun within 3 days , and the only way to prevent a full takeover of europe by the soviets would of been tactical nukes, thus why the davy crockett was invented.

Ausschwitz is certainly intense but be aware moron tourists will be taking stupid pictures of themselves smiling at the gates. that disgusted me.

Have they taken down that wall between USA and Mexico yet? Oh.

This brings up a good point.

Unless the U.S. plans to man this proposed wall in a style similar to East Germany, building a wall along the southwestern border is just a completely ineffective, inefficient, and expensive way to enact border control.

It would become the modern day Maginot Line. Anyone motivated enough to run north to get paid $2.00/hr under the table picking vegetables for 14 hours a day in the sun, and risk life and limb to do so, is probably more than willing to put in the extra effort to flank or tunnel our expensive exercise in political appeasement.

Nevermind that the Mexican government actually publishes and distributes a 'how-to' guide on illegal immigration in comic book format. Source 1 Source 2 I'm sure they'll revise it to incorporate new ideas on how to get around a wall.

You're right, there's nothing we can do. We might as well open our gates, give everyone citizenship, and go bankrupt right away. Foreplay was always rather boring anyways, wasn't it?

tons of great graf still on that wall!

i didn't think much of auschwitz to be honest. maybe birkenau would have more of an impact.
