Looks good will watch. I like how they're mixing real life scenarios/footage into it. "A cross between flipper and bourne identity" lol..

yea saw it a few weeks ago. I watched flipper as a kid so seeing this was very interesting. Check out a TV show called Whale Wars, you'll like that one. Start off with one of the older seasons and then watch the last season. They had a pretty good year saving whales. Sad stuff...

the Dolphin they are hunting are not endangered. Is there anything wrong with killing and eating animal?

Too bad the movie didn't help much. The hunt started again last week :(

Ric O'Barry (awesome guy!) continued to make a television series about it, called Blood Dolphins.

It's a cruel hunt of a highly intelligent marine mammal separating mothers from calves, wiping out entire family units, in a prolonged and painful method that causes massive suffering before a slow death. The dolphins may not be endangered but upwards to 20,000 are killed annually around Japan which is unsustainable.

They sell and export live dolphins to marine parks around the world at up to a quarter of a million each, which is keeping the hunt financially lucrative.

I'm not saying that modern factory farming doesn't cause any suffering, but well run operations try to minimize it, and we have more than enough cows, pigs and chickens to keep people fed. The dolphin hunts are completely unnecessary.

The meat is also very high in mercury and other toxins so it's not safe to eat.

There's also a hunt like this one that takes place each year in the Faroe Islands where they primarily kill Pilot Whales but also some dolphins...

Empathy is a healthy thing to have for all living things, but the higher level of consciousness something has the stronger the emotional reaction will be. The classic example is the dog but dolphins are intelligent and emotional animals that invoke similar responses. I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong with hunting dolphins, but to consider them merely animals to be slaughtered and consumed is pretty disheartening.

Thanks for the trailer, will definitely be checking this movie out.

Great movie man. I recommend everyone see this, I personally would never pay to see a dolphin perform ever again after seeing this.

Earthlings (2005)

I was gonna put this in the puppies thread, but it's really relevant to all wildlife and the way we treat them.

Had to make myself watch the whole thing, and it may not turn you into a vegan or go sign up for Greenpeace, you will definitely think twice when you're at the supermarket or the mall.

It's broken down into several parts: how we (via industry) use/exploit animals for food, clothing, lab experiments, the resources of their habitat and for entertainment.

I remember watching Flipper too:
