I am announcing my resignation from being an affiliate today. It's official. From now on, I will hopefully never have to promote other people's services or products other than my own. As some of you have heard, we are making our own sites, with our own merchant accounts, our own content, and our own private (beta until July) affiliate program. The only work I plan on doing with the networks, is in the role of an advertiser.
It's been a long run, and I can safely say that it's been a very happy one too. I love doing affiliate marketing, but after doing it for nearly 12 years of the 13 years I've been in IM for, it's time to call it quits and move on.
I'll still happily give advice, and you can bet your ass I'll be answering questions and keeping up with the industry, but for me personally, I will not be an affiliate anymore! No more earning stats screenshots, no more large BH networks for niches on affiliate products, nothing! Done! For good!
I am really excited about our recently launched private affiliate program. For those involved, they know that it's definitely something unique, and something that gives the affiliates all of the power they need to have maximum conversions. We did a small test in mid-December with Adwords for our first site, and had a conversion rate of about 1:13!!! Which is fucking insane. It's like 1997 all over again from the adult world, but without the porn. Our temp merchant only allowed us $6k-$6.5k in transactions for 30 days, and we blew right through it in under 2 days. We didn't even try to ramp it up. So I'm even more confident with those results done that these sites are going to dominate.
I think the absolute BEST part though is that since they are membership sites, the affiliates will be getting paid for the life of the customer, instead of just a one time sale deal. That's called recurring payouts to those guys who have never heard of this model before. Make 10 sales one month, and as long as they keep their membership active, you get paid the same amount for the next month on those too. Very simple, and very easy.
For you network owners reading this, the new program is not considered an affiliate network, more like an affiliate program for a company who owns their own sites, services, content, and payment system. So we pose zero threat to you, and will most likely submitting our sites to you guys as advertisers so the general population can take advantage of them too.
We have a ton of niches planned for development, and we expect to churn out 5 new sites a week. When we do our public affiliate launch at Affiliate Summit East in July in Miami, we'll also be announcing our affiliate management team, along with all of the brass attached to it. We've already begun to plan the party and contests for that show, and promise to make it one hell of a memorable launch. Oh yeah.. WF members get first dibs on a private pre-launch in June before the show.
It's really been a very fun, and amazing learning experience to have been an affiliate marketer for so long and still be here, and to also be able to consider myself successfull too when everyone around me, for years never understood what I did, and to be able to prove them all wrong, especially with the dropping out of college bit. But yeah, WF is still going to be the same, no changes because of this. I also don't plan on using WF as a form of advertising for my program, I want to keep them as seperate entities, and we'll be advertising on it just like any other program/network or service would.
It feels good to publicly announce it and get it off my chest, and I hope I continue to meet really cool people from here and within the industry, and I really also want to continue helping everyone as much as I can for free.
