Ah, I dunno. 'Cause I don't like it, really. That's how it is with subjective shit like music. I've just always found melodic metal & melodic punk to be bastardizations of good genres with the teeth removed. Add melodic to a genre as a prefix and all of a sudden it sucks.

Admittedly I shoulda said melodic metal as opposed to just metal in my original post.
