^ I almost shed a tear. :sadcrying4:

If you haven't seen the movie don't watch the clip.

Movie is awesome and worth seeing in full, and you have to see that scene in the original context.

I'm a vet and I loved the movie...

I'm a little nit picky about some of the details, like the fact they reference Youtube yet mention Camp Liberty had recently had its name changed to Camp Victory, which happened before I got there in '04... And a lot of other nit picky shit that people who weren't there wouldn't give a shit about.

But overall it's my favorite movie about OIF. It's a fairly realistic, and does an awesome job of portraying the "rush" and the adrenaline addiction people experience in combat.

I will never go back over there. But you'll never feel as alive as you do when mortar shrapnel misses you by a few feet.

I agree, skip that clip if you haven't seen it. It surprised me, I'm pretty cynical about war movies about Iraq, but they did a good job with Hurt Locker.

One last note, for those of you who've seen it, a lot of that shit just wouldn't happen in real life. But it's fiction, not a documentary, and as a fictional portrayal it's pretty good.

I heard mixed reviews, some say its too long with too much chatter and not enough action. That the trailer has all the action scenes in it.
I found 4-5 scenes on youtube - defusing bombs and sniper duel, I guess that pretty much sums it up.

One of the biggest disappointments ever. I don't really get why there's so much love over this movie.

The pace is terrible and so is the story, I mean really a whole lot of not much happens.

It's not about action scenes. For that, check out Black Hawk Down.

Did you guy see it in the theater? It is a different movie with theater's sound effect (just like avatar, it is so much worse watching it on TV). Best action movie since Die Hard 3.

I've never served, but from what I can gather from friend's accounts, a lot of being in the military is like that. "hurry up and do nothing" interspersed occasionally with intense moments.

Doesn't mean it makes for good cinema.
