goddamn.

Those pics must be setup. ;)

I'm sure the man could have done better, maybe she drugged him or something.

I agree with the OP, hard work is the only fucking thing that is necessary to start and make some decent money. After that, you need to be able to learn, continue to work hard, and plan a bit. It does require some brains. ;)

Richard Branson didn't even go to college. No matter being a dropout.

Yeah, but he is gay :love-smiley-086:

WTF. What kind of rich man has an ugly wife? Give me an example of a guy that has a Ferrari and an ugly wife.
I was under the assumption that you would find a wife when you were youngerish, not quite rich yet and fat/ugly from sitting on your ass 17 hours a day.

The reason why the chick is ugly is because its a F355, you can pick one of those up for as little at $70k ;)

On a serious note, I don't know what this huge debate is about. There are two types of people: those that spend their time trying to figure out why something can't happen and those that spend their time making it happen.

Why can't you be the next bill gates? why can't you be better then bill gates? Theres absolutley no reason why you can't. Thats exactly the thing that sets bill gates apart from your regular joe schmoe. Joe is thinking of reasons not to take his idea to the next level where as bill thinks of reasons to take his idea to the next level. The only thing that evers holds you back from doing anything is yourself.

Exactly. Thanks for putting it so succinctly John. :xyxthumbs:

I really do want to be putting that amount of work in, but I haven't a clue what I should be doing for 16 hours a day. :(

I guess the real problem lies not in working 8 hours vs. 16 but rather in the load of people who work less than 2, less than 1, less than 1/2 hour a day and wonder they don't make any income.

That said, I ...uh..er.... I gotta go.

John and joe do you guys live entirely off the internet? Did you go to college and you've graduated or did you not bother?

Right now I can't spend all time working on web sites because of college, my side job, my gf, and my social life. There just isn't much time left over after all that, even during the summer! I couldn't make time for it unless I dropped out and who knows how long until another massive bubble bursts and a lot of us web developers get fucked? I'm attending college merely as backup in case someday in the future something terrible happens and my finances aren't what they need to be. Having a college degree would be crucial at such a point in time. Plus learning is awesome.

I live off my earnings from the Internet, but I still go to college. I'm working on a degree in Finance, and don't take anything related to computers.

My schedule is rather busy, but I do find time to fit in my classes and social life - minus the gf (waste of time and money :)). I approach college as my backup, but I probably have enough saved to last me a year or two. College is inexpensive down here in NC, and 18 hours out of my week isn't too bad.

I approach time (during school) as follows:
There are 168 hours in a week.
I sleep for 5 a day, so I have 133 to do stuff
When school is in session I have 18 hours of class, I probably attend 15. So there are 118 hours left.
I socialize for maybe 14-20 hours a week, 114 left for other stuff
I can do 50 hours of work easy during school, so that leaves 64 hours for wasting time*.

* This makes me realize I could easily get more done if I maxamized my time better. :)

I had the same concern. I suppose we're supposed to be doing whatever we do for 4 or 5 hours a day but just a lot more of it.

Make more sites and improve the one's you have. Always have a few projects on the table, when you finish one start the next one.

Nice post John, motivating

There is just such a wealth of information when you start in this game, every week I think "Ok, I know some shit now" and then the next week I discover so much more.. "OK, now I know some shit"

Endless cycle..

Totally agree with Johns Post. One more thing I would add also is that along with hard work, you need to build up a solid network. Your network will eventually help you be more productive by getting others to do what your not good at.

Hence why myself and a lot of others do visit forums a lot. All about building a network.

Log in to Adsense and hit refresh every two minutes is always a sure fire way of increasing earnings. :D

On a serious note, why not churn out some more sites?

That is very true. Dedication is a main ingredient to success. However, having a normal life to some degree is also a factor in being successful online. You need sometime outside the computer to clear your head. I know sometimes that I am sitting on the computer and my head is so full of different ideas and strategies that I have to get up and just go do something else.

There is also a small bit of luck involved....right place at right time.

Now that's the truth...!
