Jon you said you were getting tons of traffic to that site? But theres only about 1.5k pages in google and 8 in MSN, and all of google is supplemental.

thats the issue we are trying to discuss here, jon claimed good traffic to his scraper sites, but being in supplemental (because of no backlinks/duplicate content) would make that .. untrue
 
what search engines love is regularly updated content and lots of links. But they can detect markov content and duplicates. that's why blackhat sites are banned all the time. So Sitemaker is right.

But the site Jon has probably doesn't have backlinks from thousands of guestbooks and blogs. Just 32 links according to the SEO FF plugin. and apparently not enough to it's pages out of supplemental for Google Search

actually im doing amazing with markov'd content in google, especially when you have 3+ sources jumbled up.. :) complete duplicates however is another issue
 
The site doesn't make a lot of money at all.. but when you consider that it had zero promo on it, and the content is all RSS'ed in, I'd say it's pretty damn good.

Do you use your own custom script? Or a modified rssgm?
 
I am now wondering if I C&D'd any of Jon's sites, cause I've had a few people scrape my blog :1orglaugh:
 
As Jon said.. its all rss'ed in. Wordpress has various plug ins that just take an rss feed from another blog and post it to yours. as your own content. Its really easy its not even funny ;)
 
Jon, next time you on the air or something of that sort, you should mention a random site that you've prepared ahead of time that sucks and looks like it would suck and everything and say that it is one of the biggest sources of your income. It would be funny how everyone would anaylze it to death=/

if your referring to me "analyzing it" then im not analyzing it. im just helping to remove misinformation because SEs do not love scraper sites. no point in 100 people making rss sites because Jon the guru said so ;)
 
oh haha sitemaker, i wasnt directing that to you, or anyone in this post(not even as a general people in this post),but rather just as a fun thing to do and if he were to do that,the site really would be analyzed to death
