It would take a violent society where women needed the protection of men. Right now, men are optional so they often get treated like they're optional. Things are going in the other direction so don't expect that to happen. Just make money and act like a man and only deal with women that can appreciate that. One of the biggest reasons why this PC police stuff is so prevalent now is that men have given women a voice...and for some reason care what they have to say about such matters.

This was the worst possible thing that could've happened because once you do that, you have a large movement of females (plus white knight males who back them) that will try to suppress male behavior they don't like. This 'domestic violence' commercial isn't just an innocent PSA, it's part of a larger movement to destroy male behavior.

The question is, what would it take to change things back to the way they were when men could act like men, say whatever they wanted to say, and do so without repercussion like losing your job or being ostracized by society as a whole?

Oh c'mon man, that's not the issue. Giving females a "voice" isn't a problem. Are you saying they're so inferior they can't voice their opinions on matters that effect them and their female peers? Or that because they're female, their opinions hold less weight because they don't share the same genitals as us? GTFO.

Why not attack radical feminist rhetoric using logic instead? Why not this:

If women want to stop (or mitigate) instances of rape, REAL sexual harassment, and physical abuse, the worst thing they can do is launch a PSA campaign targeting men in general. Why?

Because most men don't harass women. Most men don't abuse women. Nor do most men rape women.

Only males with deeply antisocial tendencies do that shit (a tiny percentage of the total population). So by targeting the average NFL fan/male, they've completely missed their target demographic.

Let's suppose they DID target abusers and deviants with these indignant PSAs. Do you really think they would have an effect? Are sociopaths really swayed by advertisements that appeal to emotions? Do you think an abuser is going to sit down and go, "Wow. I didn't realize beating my wife was morally reprehensible. Now I'm going to instantly change a pattern of behavior that was instilled within me since fucking childhood."

No. Never gonna fucking happen.

Therefore, the most logical thing women can do is promote female independence. Send PSAs out to women that encourage carrying tasers, firearms, and pepper spray. Promote safe partying habits. Provide resources to women that help with codependency issues so they stop dating guys that abuse them.

THAT is effective. THAT is real female empowerment. Anything else is subtly implying that women are SO helpless that they need to have average men step in and protect them from a small minority of deviants who really do hurt women.

PSA's are not typically used as quick-fixes to eliminate problems overnight. They are used as part of long-term strategy to reduce the occurrence of a certain behaviour. Repeated exposure to the message over a long period of time reduces the behaviour through education and peer/societal pressure. This has worked in many other cases: drinking and driving, smoking, seat belts, baby car seats, etc.

The PSA's will certainly not change the psychos who are currently beating up their wives on a regular basis. But they will have impact on younger guys and will reduce wife beating in the long run.
