Thanks for the info Mike...

Been browsing those sites....

Heres the thing... You set up your campaign "Name of your future lover"

Would you promote this via banner "Text Love to 485784"

Im still not quite sure how this would work yet... I'll look more into it, but if you got some answers don't be afraid to share :-D

The guy operating TheLoverCalculator.com and all those other sites doesn't get people to text anything.

All they do is type their cell # in the box on his website, he uses some sort of script to send them a PIN # and they type that PIN # on his website to confirm their subscription to his service.

He doesn't have them text anything, it's all done through his website and automatic PIN # script.

Is this getting complex enough for you yet? No wonder he has 0 competition.

The service he provides is logistically and technically difficult to carry out.

this thread sparked an idea in my head, now i just need to find a way to send text messages to users :D

definitely some great info and ideas rolling here... I'll be checking this thread often to see what else is contributed.

Thanks for the info guys!

What am I missing here? This looks way too easy...

Basically all you need is:

1. Mobile billing solution.. 3bill, or mbill?

2. Frontend site, and some PHP/Mysql to schedule and send messages.

3. A SMS gateway to send messages to any cell #.

4. less than $5k to get started?

If thats it I'm in! Piece of cake!

The ones I've looked at when I was trying to become advertiser rather than affiliate are really expensive. $10,000 to start and $x,xxx per month. That's quite a barrier to entry and the amount you can charge is capped and a large % is lost depending on carrier. There has to be a better and cheaper way then using a middle man.

Not likely, most carriers are adding an extra step where the user is prompted with the cost of subscription. If anything it's going to get harder and more expensive.

To do any type of SMS messaging (Well in canada) you've got to contact a service provider and then have them assign you with a 5 digit PIN number in which you can use on your site, this is to track your system and in order to make sure your not breaking the law I guess, plus someone needs to pay you.

This isn't a perfect explanation but its a start I was going to get into this with a ton of different offers but I'm still working out some finer details plus I'm leaving on holidays right now so it doesn't help to get my mind wrapped around this.

This is what I propose.

First Succeed at INTERNET marketing.

Then you will not think twice when dropping $10,000 to enter the mobile marketplace.

How much does it cost you (in Canada) to get everything setup and working w/ the service provider?

Is it really $10,000 to start out?
