This guy thinks he doesnt have to eat anymore.

Why's anything like that on your list to begin with?

I meant like if I'm looking for sausages (what WF member isn't) and all I can find are ones that claim to have some healthy advantage then I just give up and don't buy sausages.

Not everything is low-cal....

Yeah but they're gross and make you feel dead inside.

Where is the high calorie, high quality food!?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, my problem may be more pronounced here in Southern California.

You movie stars have to eat healthy :338:

Anyone remember when Bones on the original Star Trek said that this is impossible? "The body needs Sustenance, Dammit!" ;)

Anyway, Soylent's creator says he only went 30 days straight using only soylent; & now has a weekly meal or two with it.

If they somehow got the quantity of scale up so that it is in every grocery store, I think everyone would eat Soylent SOMETIME, such as when they're in a hurry. -Perhaps 2 meals a day for most young and active people.

I'm a bit of a foodie sometimes so I probably would not eat it 1 meal a day every day, but replacing 1-2 meals a day with this has many benefits for everyone:

  1. Time saved eating
  2. Time saved preparing food
  3. Time saved washing dishes
  4. Time saved at the grocery store
  5. Energy saved preparing food
  6. Energy saved washing dishes
  7. Water saved washing dishes
  8. Money saved at the grocery store
  9. Lesser dish ownership (Costs of dishes and of storage room for said dishes)
  10. Being Sure that you've gotten enough/proper nutrition

...Taken together the benefits are not trivial!

Even foodies will figure this out and start using it regularly once it catches on. It just has to make it past the FDA first. :crap:

When this hits the networks can I use your post for my splog?

"Discover the one weird food that supermarkets don't want you to know!"

They are call bratwursts man. Don't know where you shop, but I have no problem trolling the super market and find high cal sausage.

Why you want high cal sausage is beyond me, you know it's just the ground up misc parts of animals and seasoned.

You want high cal, look for fat, it shouldn't be an issue. Fatty cuts of meat like pork shoulder, fish (especially cod and salmon), chicken skin on (like wings), steak will pack plenty of cals in to a small package. Stay away from the chicken sausage, although some of it isn't much better than the non-chicken kind.

Want more cals? Natty Peanut butter, cheese, butter, olive oil, avocados. I guess you could add pasta/bread it's normally pretty high cal for what you eat.

If you just want to eat high cal, just so you have to eat less, it's not a very good idea. Even if you lift, you don't need to eat as much as you think which is why people are so fucking fat.

have to disagree

this would NEVER catch on besides the small % of people that actually control thier own lives and not the other way around.

the masses are so additced to

1.) the cosmetic look of food

2.) and taste

that unless you can make soylent stuff look like a mcdonalds big mac.. or kentucky fried chicken

this will never get off the ground.

I do see medical uses of this

Soylent makes me think its made from soy. I skimmed the site but didnt find the answer. Also while skimming this caught my attention.

Extras not considered essential:
Omega-3 Fatty Acids(750mg): Humans cannot synthesize these fatty acids, and though links with cancer have been largely debunked, there is limited evidence consumption of these substances improve cardiovascular health and inhibit cognitive aging.

China study isnt evidence.

Very true. However, imagine how much this could save every year if you fed this to prisoners? Considering we hold 25% of the worlds prisoners I would say alot....

Weight gainers sell well. I guarantee most of the people using them would instantly switch if something better was available.

Some people just have trouble eating enough. Liquid foods make that easy (thus why gallon a milk a day works so well with hardgainers).

I lived in turkey breast and mustard for over a year. Thats ALL I ate for every meal. I had so much fucking energy it was crazy. Need to get back on that diet.

I would never go on a liquid diet or fast for more than 48 hours and I sure as fuck would never drink Soylent. I love eating... and this is coming from a guy who lost 90 lbs of body fat.

Those juicing diets and fruit diets will never hold up. It's just another fad.. Your body will eventually crash from the lack of protein and excess amount of sugars (idc if they're natural).

IMHO... if you want to live long (to 100)... you should should be eating a lot of protein and healthy fats to thicken up your body.

This is the only diet that will give you sustainable energy in the long term...
IIFYM.com

I know you pricks are ballin' but damn.... let's say there IS an epic food shortage in the next 2...5...10 years... It's going to be a son-of-a-bitch to get the variety of food choices that we have available to us.

Oh, and inb4 suddenlyass lol

So much truth in this. There is no logic in drinking fruits / veggies for every meal instead of hitting your macros each day with food and getting micronutrients from fruits / vegetables. I dropped 120 lbs with IIFYM, eating plenty of "unhealthy" foods in moderation (ice cream, chips, pizza) and I'm extremely healthy and fairly lean at 190lbs. There's no reason to deprive yourself from the foods you enjoy eating.

Food is one of my favorite things in life, I don't really think of food as just nutrients I enjoy eating too much.

How the fuck do people have trouble eating enough? I could happily eat like 6000 C per day. I ate like 800 calories of peanut butter while I was brewing coffee this morning.

I am the opposite. Have to force myself really hard to get enough calories in.

I would love it if I could just drink down my calories. Milk is actually pretty good for that, but still need my veggies etc...

Even if they came out with a pill that made it so I never had to eat again I would still be scoffing down ice cream, cookies, and pizza. Shit is just too good to give up.

As much as I love the English language, this shit is just plain wrong.

Yes, the word "scoffing" is being used appropriately here. When contrasting behaviors such as "expressing derision" and "consuming greedily" both belong to the same word, you know it's time to edit the damn dictionary.
