*yes, I realize, in the movie they're M14's or M1A's.

My latest acquisition. A M1 Garand from the CMP (Rifle Sales - M1 Garand)

This is one of the service grade specials. Harrington & Richardson.

The metal looks brand new, and the stock *is* brand new. So, there isn't a really cool history behind this particular rifle, but it's mine. :D

For anyone looking to order from the CMP, the wait isn't as long as they say on the site. The site says 30 - 60 days. I got mine in 2 weeks.

My list of guns is pretty much complete now. The three I always wanted were: M1 Garand, Colt Python and a 1911. Got all three (and a buncha others). So, this will probably be the last "old gun" post you'll see from me in a long time.

I dont get why people like to show off objects that someone other than themselves crafted...

Simply because it's part of a hobby that one person enjoys, and others may (or may not) share a similar passion.

/edit/ and I wanted an excuse to post the first video :D

meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh.... If you want a bad ass historic gun, I got some mausers from this guy (Fine Historical & Modern Firearms such as Mauser Rifles, P-08 Luger Pistols, P38 Autos, 1911 Autos and more by Mitchell's Mausers) he's all in the gun magazines, check em out.

The only Mausers that interest me are the Swedish Mausers and a 1909 Argentine Mauser. Mausers and Mosins are in the "meh" categories for me. Just boring.

But that's what makes this hobby so cool. Some guys like Mausers, some like Mosins, others like Swiss rifles, and the list goes on. It makes things a lot more fun at the range talking to people with similar yet different interests. You learn so much more.

Why would anyone want a mauser when they could have a garand which is superior in every way?

Now , a gewher '43........That'd be a different story.

Mosins & Mausers are one of those things where everyone should have one just because.

Mausers for the longest time were always a dime a dozen with cheap ammo, now the cheap ammo is gone and supply is drying up. So, for $69.96 you can stock up on as many Mosins as you want along with the $59.95/case armor piercing ammo that goes along with a gun that comes from a country where they put steel into ammo because it's cheaper than lead :D

Also , if you want cheap collectors firearms (and are willing to wait for shipments). AIMsurplus.com gets the best, cheapest C&R/relic guns ever. Mitchel's is selling their stuff roughly twice as high as AIM is when it's available.

Cool.

One day, when I'm bored and old, I wanna get a M16 to remind me of all those long ass ruck marches I've been on with that thing.

*I miss my rifle*

I wonder if Simo Hayha's mosin was ever sold ?

Saw your post and had to read up. Holy shit! That guy makes Carlos Hathcock look like a kid with a slingshot!

Badass of the Week: Simo Hayha <-- fun read

There were plenty of them.

Jack Churchill used a longbow and broadsword to kill Nazi sentries.

Alvin York captured something like 132 Germans during ww1 by himself because they thought he was his own brigade.

Audie Murphy used a burnt out, blown up tank destroyer to wipe out Nazis in wholesale fashion.

Nancy Wake killed scores of enemy soldiers, some with her bare hands. Personally blew up factories and escaped capture many, many , many times.

This is without even mentioning Germans on the Eastern Front, granted I won't get into that in this thread.
